Bud, no offence meant but just search ‘aftermarket dtr125 kickstart’ in the web. No idea what you like or would suit your bike…

Unless you have some pics 🙂 …

@Stevie-Wonder Thanks bud 👍 Greta (for that is her name as she's noisy, irritating, aimed squarely at the youth market and responsible for thousands of them bunking off school all over the world) cost me half as much as my '93 due to the mileage and had a thick layer of grime all over due to years of grinding commuting. I gave her a scrub with Jizer (several times) and this is what was underneath 😳

Here are the part #s for the toolbox and lid, bit pricey IMO and you'd have to get the lugs welded on to a non-e start frame. Be a nice touch if you were getting it powdercoated sometime though

Try here @ConnorDTR http://www.bikerpartshop.com/en/91-blackbird-racing-stickers-seat-cover-for-yamaha-dtr-125-dt125r.html?ps_full_site=1 that's the only link I have but once there have a look on the stickers section they had some nice ones the last time I was on! I found some decent graphics kits for the DTR on eBay there's a guy selling mx style ones last time I searched for DTR graphics some had numbers with them and you can customise the number and add a name etc think the kits where £99 or best offer so quite expensive .

@John1 Just the MOT checker alone gives you quite a lot of details about the history of the bike and how well it's been cared for. It tells you a story about it's life and how the owners have treated her. Such basic things like worn tyres and brake pads suggest she's been ridden hard. Failures for high emissions and excessive smoke suggest lots of high revving and infrequent servicing. Worn chains and sprockets suggest heavy handedness on the throttle. Faulty headlights, indicators, brake lights etc. suggest wiring problems. Parts will naturally wear out over time, but an owner who cherishes their bike will check all of these prior to a test and fix any problems if need be, so that she stands a good chance of passing first time. Regular servicing and spanner-time will tell you how well the bike has been looked after. Also look at the reasons for failure's and the advisory's too, if the same one's reoccur then it's safe to say that the bike has had a hard life.

Try this little test and see for yourself. This is a bike I was looking at today, I was quite shocked when I ran the MOT checker. Just click the link above and enter these details below and you will see why.

Check the MOT history of a vehicle
    Registration number: DX56BYO
    Vehicle make APRILIA

In comparison enter these details of another bike and you will see a vast difference.

Check the MOT history of a vehicle
    Registration number: DX57FXZ
    Vehicle make APRILIA

Also check the yearly mileage recorded, the top bike readings are pretty shocking and it looked really good too!!! :O(

Cheers guys, I'll keep a look out on eBay, I don't mind something that needs a good clean or a skim, I've skimmed a head before on a piece of glass with fine grinding paste haha and it came out well, just as Calum said it needs to not have any pitting or damage on the combustion chamber, and it's hard to make out in pictures sometimes 😞

I did this on my old KLR:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJb5IPOx2l0
It takes a long time, but the results are great.

Haven't got around to doing to my DT yet, but it's on the list.

@mad73 it's strange as I've done the same thing countless times to and always ended up with the v5 no questions asked but this has left me curious now lol. I've emailed them clear pictures of the frame number and mot certificates and they have the green slip so pretty weird was worried incase someone had tried to clone the bike or something haha guess Ill just need to see.

The little stinker loving life playing with the big boys , after what has felt like a long wet winter it was time to get out there for a play , and oh boy did we enjoy ourselves the little Stinker singing it song and its pilot with that big ear to ear stupid grin , we did the local Biker Cafe , Squires charity Easter Egg run which started at the Cafe at Sherburn in Helmet to Malton about a 45 mile run , the cafe is a 30 mile run for me to get there then the run home so all in it was a about a 110 mile ride out , and bike and man feel so much better for it , the ride home was fun I was with two friends one on a 1000 yam faser and a big yam custom job that is parked along side me in the first picture , and me being on the little Stinker they thought it had better be me leading the way ha ha ha fools took a wrong turn and ended up on a little back lane two strips of tarmac with a strip of gravel down the middle , no problem for the Stinker as you know all too well but with a 1700 cc cruiser two up and a 1000 Fasser two up I dont think they were best pleased , and then we ended up at a bridge that was closed but open to walkers and cyclists so it was decided we are cyclists Ok motorcyclists so why not have a look , well two ladders laid down side by side with a scaffold board on top of them did not look too inviting for the big boys , Stinker would have been away with it but seeing as I had got them in to this mess I had to try and save the day and get them back to civilisation well pop the Stinker on the sidestand lean it over quick swivel and thats me ready for the off 4 dirty looks that could kill 4 shunts each and 15 mins later we are on our way character building I call it , dont think they saw it that way Oh well think that could be the end of me leader of the pack days finished ,

@Dt-Danny Aye, of course he could just be a better rider. Or worse still, knowing you, the head gasket is gone on your drz.

Plus who said drzs are fast? And for that matter who said bog standard dt200's are fast.

I don't think either bikes are. But they have other key qualities that make them excellent bikes.

@DevonDtr Yeah but at least this could happen on any vehicle!

I got so used to doing tyre changes that punctures were the norm.

I had so many puncture repair kits on my DT that eventually it was the seam that split lmao!

Deadly now that I think about it. A blow out down the dual carrige way could have ended really badly!
