hi mate i got mine as a french inport and was in good condition and all seems fine you will have to get it insured on vin number only before you can regester it but make sure it got a nova registrastion number as you will need this too mine has started to rattle on the top end so think it going to need new piston and rings at some stage but thats the joys with these bikes

Thanks for the replys. Actually do have a manual and also managed to cure starting problem. It was a poor connection in one the connector blocks hidden away amongst a tangle of insulation tape. Thanks for the help though.

Lol. Premix ratio for a DT, it does not need a racey mixture. The standard Oil pump is about 45-50:1 ?

I ragged mine and found 35:1 to be adequate in the end, I only just managed to briefly heat sieze, with little damage with the oil pump fitted a time ago, and that was flat out for 4 miles! The later 3RM pumps are pretty good, the older design were ones people had issues with.

Never had a problem with Athena gaskets. They are used on my Starlet necessary when trippling the power output of the old engine.

Sounds like either not fitting correctly, or head and barrel not skimmed properly.

Fitting means retorquing after running the temperatures.

@Darty The sad fact about all this is such a wonderful bike, lovingly built and very well restored, will hit the scrapheap well before it's time. And once the dust has settled, I'm sure that the outcome of all this will be valuable experience and a hard lesson learned by @Biker_123. As I'm sure from now on he will vet any potential buyers and protect himself much more in the future!!! 😉

On a serious note though (last post also serious mind) I'd send that thing back. It's clearly been sat in his toilet for the last year or so. If it's going anywhere near your engine you want bits that aren't half dead from the get go 🙅

I meant check which wires are live when I'm low on fuel, and which ones are live when I'm indicating etc

Bit strange like that sometimes,had the same thing with my car insurance by putting my Missus on as a learner actually lowered the price,go figure haha
