@declan Probably because the Stator mounts to the case. However since we won't need to mount the stator there, as the flywheel mounts inverted, you might get away with it,
@SpookDog B
Brown is usually switched live so only works when ignition is on
My bike is older than yours but a brown wire goes to kill switch I think
If the wire won't solder scrape a stanley blade over it until the copper is shiny rub some flux on twist them together an try again I bought some £7,solder it works much better than the cheap stuff
@SpookDog I have a bike I'm building with an 05 dtx engine I'm trying to do a crossover of parts the bike has spark with it's cdi but won't fire so I would like to try my dtr cdi on it last time I did so I couldn't get a spark since my dtr needs to be stripped down I figure nows a good time to try again
Just find the one that’s giving out 12v when the lights are on. Then 12v only when the brake is on. My headlight/taillight doesn’t work unless the engine is running. The brake light works from the battery...
Try doing it ticking over. The black will be the earth. You’ll get it, it’s just a process of elimination 🙂
@Calum when I had a DTR years ago with pinned ypvs it had a higher top speed when I lowered the gearing as the motor was actually able to pull better via a ratio that in theory would have given a lower maximum
If there the right amount of correct coloured wires, then I’d just pop them out of the block and plug the loose wires in. I’m guessing that Yamaha uses the same internal mini spade connectors?
It’s really easy to do once you get the knack. Just press to the side with a precision screwdriver. Practice on an old one...
I wish I could post pics from my phone ☹️
