Check out this bulld, if you have not already seen it.

I have been looking into Porting options for the 3MB00-P, Wondering exactly about these claimed BHP figures I've found over the Net. I'll quote, Factory stock Yamaha TZR125RR 4DL Y-2 - around 23-25 BHP. Couple of dyno's prove that, Seems about right. I can't imagine pressing anything more out of it without a completely Re-worked cylinder. With minor induction improvements to follow.

Looking at the porting on the 3MB00-P it's very sedate (being a production road bike of course)

The Gilardoni Barrels were Re-worked in Italy and present the holy grail SPR. Claimed these SP's could make 28hp. Pretty much a race bike. Must have some impressive Boost porting and Transfer arrangements. And they do. The exhaust port is extreme. Found some pics on here to illustrate. Really interesting. HP figures are useless unless your road racing competitively. So got to think about what is practically, realistically a fast tune.

Made some plans for an aggressive Mid range' barrel. with a TM32. I can't see there being enough 'Signal' with my PWK36 in a expectable range. Yamaha - Mikuni. Made for each other.

http://3pracing.gr/listing-REED+VALVE+SYSTEM+WR200-13.html

Hmmm. And it does fit. Standard Reeds are pretty up to it for light tuning.

Inquired on a WR200 Cylinder, Cylinder Head, Piston, and YPVS drum. With some life in it. £400. Alot. Would be Performance Issues sorted really.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221991378522?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Just use the internals into your block. if you run a later CDI model. It is a WR200 engine (3XP)s. They have quite Racey Porting actually, An endeavour I cannot afford.

Then came 1998. The last year to use the original Oil pump design. The last of the real DT125Rs. You could still get 11,500 RPMs when you wanted it.

This is the end of the DT125R, 99-03' models are completely sanitised and the heavier Generator design that followed make these engines even more soulless.

No love for the DTRE at this point, fatter and confusing ergonomics, It's amazing Yamaha stretched the DT125R from 1988 to 2007. The everyday 2stroke market was finally dead.

Production of the DTRE completely moved into Europe to.

The RE borrwed dimensions and design from the 1997' DT230 Lanza, Yamaha's last attempt to keep selling a 2stroke relic at that point.

No offence to you DTRE owners. Be assured!

To a great bike, that is actually best when you leave it alone and original..

Some of the best looking MX bikes of all time I think. And in 1985, KTM's were coming out with (White Power) WP nowadays,.. USD forks and front AND rear discs.

For the late 1980s KTM's were pretty tech, but not very good by most accounts.

Just a cool and very forward thinking piece of engineering from 1989, I thought I would share MXA's Write up, the only Magazine to get to test it, for the KTM 125MX AMP Prototype.

A really interesting time in Motocross development and the beginning of real refinement of the 2stroke for off-road racing.
