@greaser58 The mixture of oil is going to depend on the type of oil used and its quality.
I tend to run around 50:1 on Silkolene fully synthetic. But you have to appreciate these engines weren't designed to run without the oilpump.
It should smoke regardless, I'd rather it smokes a little, thus ensuring oil delivery.
That said, fitting the oil pump back on isn't hard and well worth it. Especially as you don't want to be worrying about the oil mixture everytime you go out on it.

Hello, welcome to the forum! I've never pre-mixed with a DT, never had to. But as for enduro bikes and crossers I've owned over the years the general rule is you want a 2% mixture. So with a 10 litre tank you'll want 0.2 litres of oil, or 200 millilitres. However those bikes were designed to run on premix, as Calum said the DT wasn't but it really shouldn't make much of a difference.
Just make sure when you stop, close the fuel valve and let the bike die off so you have an empty carb. It'll avoid you having to clean it up so often, and give the bike a good shake before you start up otherwise you'll be running rich and that could result to you chewing through spark plugs.

@declan I don't think it makes much difference. The oil doesn't ignite like the fuel, residue oil should coat the bore, which will eventually burn (hence the smoke) but should be replaced with more oil. Therefore, I don't think it makes much difference
