I had similiar symptoms when my gearbox-side crankshaft seal failed. Check the gearbox oil for petrol smell.

I had a similar problem earlier this year. It behaved almost exactly like yours except it would do it in any weather. In my case it was faulty gearbox side crankshaft seals. You might have a look at your transmission oil and test if it smells like gas.

The blue wire connects to the neutral switch lightbulb in the clocks. The skyblue cable connects to the neutral switch, which lies down at the gear lever.
