DTR ENGINE IN DTX FRAME
-
Currently have a DTR engine being built to replace my shot dtx engine. I know these engines have different stators, how would I connect the dtr stator to my dtx loom? My first post in the forum and am very thankful for any advice that you guys can share with me

The stator/pickup and CDI and potentially the YPVS differ.
You also have no stator motor on the DTR engine.
If it were me, I'd place a DTRE crank, flywheel and stator into that DTR bottom end, the cases are identical. That way you won't need to swap the electrics over making it easy to revert the old engine back.

And build the DTR engine up that way.
Atlhough to be fair, it doesn't take very long to strip and build DTRE engine.

@Calum I appreciate that would be the best solution but I've already went ahead and got a DTR crank built with fresh bearings seals and gaskets, just waiting for the head back from porting and polishing. On a bit of a budget, is there no way this could be done?
Also to clarify I'll be using original dtx ypvs and cdi. Just looking to charge the battery and run the bike surely this is possible?

@Calum don't think I've explained myself the best. I can't realistically spend the money having my original crank reconditioned with a new rod n bearings etc when I already have a new one built ready to go in the cases. I need to find a way of either making DTX stator fit into DTR casing or make the DTR stator work with my bike.
I know this isnt the best way but it's what I need to happen within my budget. Surely this is possible?
Only other option is to sell DTR engine to recoup funds but I'd rather find a way to make the swap work than go through all that.
I appreciate your help mate thank you.

So the crank is no good. You can't retro fit the stator/flywheel to the crank.
As I say, you can get the DTR stator and flywheel, but you need to buy the alternative flywheel cover and probably cases to mount the stator plate to, not 100% on that.
I have ran older engines into my RE, but I bought a TZR engine whose stator and flywheel could be retrofitted with my RE flywheel/stator so I didn't have issues with the loom. The timing will probably be different and without an aftermarket ignition system to alter the static angle + any other bits, you'll need to find the appropriate CDI.
But what you're saying is fitting the wrong crank into the RE cases and then trying to fit the RE flywheel and stator.
The taper on the crank is wrong so the flywheel won't fit as it is inverted on the RE engine whereas the R has it on the other way, so the keyway is not machined in the right spot.
I believe that's right, at least online resellers confirm that the DTR crank is for 1989-2004 only.

But what you're talking about is replacing the whole ignition system, flywheel, pick up, stator and CDI because you don't want to have your RE/X crank rebuilt.
Which PJME do for £40

That doesn't make any sense
