Exhaust bolt snapped
-
Good afternoon guys hope your all well
,I'm not very good with bikes but yesterday I was checking my piston through the exhaust port to see how good condition it's in and the threaded bolt that comes of the engine came off I tried to screw it back in and it wouldn't go in I'm guessing the thread is ruinedAre these meant to come off as I have another cylinder head and it looks like they are welded on and you just bolt on the exhaust I hope I explained this well enough I managed to use a bigger bolt and get the exhaust on just not the best fit but will be doing a full top end rebuild anyways
My question is where the exhaust goes on are the threads welded on to the cylinder head or screwed in as mine was like a 2 way thread one in to the engine and then one for the exhaust to go over then bolted on.
Cheers guys

Hey bud! By bigger do you mean fatter or longer?
They’re made to come out. If it was in there fine before, I doubt that the thread is fuxed. Try putting it in by hand without the exhaust in place/the-way.
They are often very short, which makes it difficult to start them threading in with the exhaust manifold in the way.
If the thread is fuxed you can get an insert put in by a decent bike shop. Go for an insert rather than a ‘helicoil’. You can also use chemical metal to ‘glue’ it in, you just have to be gentle when you tighten up the nut…

Good morning pal thank you so much the thread on the engine was fine brought a tap and die set and fixed the bolt and it's back o there was In full panic mode how would I go about bolting it on to the engine as at the moment I have one bolt on it and I use that through the exhaust to the engine to bolt it on but the other one you just undo the nut and the bolt stays in the engine how ever the other one the Bolt comes out of the engine sorry if it does not make sense my English is not the best
