Welcome to the forum mate, I've only had my DT a few months but been on here since before I bought it, a great bunch of people on here and you'll find that no topic ever goes unanswered, which I've found is quite rare on other forums 😛
And speaking of having bikes in the house.. When I got my first ped at 16 I insisted it sat in my bedroom until I did my cbt, and sat in my bedroom it did.
And the ped I got when I was 12 did also. What tolerant parents I have 😂

Set about fitting the 3MB head today.
My torque wrench is too big so went to halfords for one, now if anyone here lies in Derby they'll have heard about the round about in Kingsway that has recently been made larger and now has a load of traffic lights on it. Well long story short, it's fucked everything up and they're shit, the retail park next to said roundabout was completely grid locked. It took about an hour to et out of the retail park once I'd been to halfords. Fabulous.
      Anyway, £80 later-

      Then the ball ache commenced:

      Old 3BN head off:
      http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w402/Burridge1/Mobile Uploads/image_zpspbkvmfas.jpeg

Nice clean 3MB head on and all put back together, with genuine yam head gasket.
      http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w402/Burridge1/Mobile Uploads/image_zpsiqzqopgs.jpeg

Started about 4th kick, took for a ride and can tell it's got more compression, it vibrates more too and seems abit nippier, will be better when I get my new zaust.
Unfortunately the sender wotsit in the head for the temp gauge looks completely different to the one in my 3BN head, hoped it would work but it doesn't.. Stayed at cold the whole time I was out. So I'll need a new one of them:(

Head cleaned up well, I'll be using the thermostat and other bits off my current head as I know they work

    • RE: Nightmare situation

Mild mods while retaining the original format is the route I've gone down, while keeping all the original bits that I've taken off to be put straight back on if the time does come to sell it. The temptation to go abit crazy will always be there but having known the guy I bought it off all my life nearly, and taking it to him to mot it every year, I'd get an arseholing for it 😂

More on topic though it sounds like mr horny head hasn't a clue what he's doing, hasn't mixed oil with the petrol and shagged his top end, completely his fault and not your responsibility. This will blow over I'd have thought, he doesn't really have a leg to stand on, shame he pressed buy it now though as eBay will take they're chunk. Yeah there'd have been more things you could've done like a receipt and some disclaimers to cover yourself but it's not the first thing you think of doing when selling something

Finally got it taxed and went out on it today, lots of smiles all round, handles great even on those knoblies and pretty damn quick, got 75 out of it down a straight riding against the wind, but it's the getting there that's the most fun bit, can't wait to get a decent pipe on it!! :DD

Honestly if I had the licence, I'd get an MZ Baghira. Husqvarna frame, Yamaha 660cc single with an Mz badge. They're the dogs dandies and won't break the bank either

    • Brand new Suzuki RG500 Gamma

Here's something you don't see everyday, or even a year. A Suzuki RG500 that's never been started let alone ridden. Lived it's whole life sat in someone's office under a sheet.

Part of me wants the person who buys it to fill it up with all its fluids and ride it like it was made to be ridden. Although it's quite clear this bike will most likely never even get fired up. A shame, but also quite fascinating to know of such a legendary and quite old bike that is essentially brand new.

Not much of an update but gave it abit of tlc the other day.
I must say, if you've had trouble finding products that do what you want to add some good shine, Auto Glym works wonders.
I used Auto Glym rapid detailer on the plastics and tank (their super resin polish didn't touch it, but this spray makes it like new) and their trim gel on things such as air box, clocks, fork gaiters and brake disc cover brings all up really well.

      http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w402/Burridge1/Mobile Uploads/image_zpso3xfzmr0.jpeg

The only other mods I really have on my list for this bike are a zeeltronic ignition and possibly a WR200 swing arm if I can find one that isn't in fkin Australia or somewhere stupid.

      @Calum said in '99 DT125R "OEM+":

@Burridge Nah must admit thats not on really!

Fingers crossed though that the performance is at least decent!
      Shut up it is!!! Hahaha

Sorted the midguard problem out, a nut between the top of it and the bottom of the yokes gave enough clearance and it looks no different so I'll be leaving it like that. Everything tightened up I took it out and the faff has been worth it. It's transformed it completely, power kicks in at 6000 from the pv opening then at 8000 the pipe kicks in with a nice rasp, and goes on to go off the clock at 80mph 😄

Next problem: melted my boot on it.

@Burridge I just love that 'Slinky' pipe you've got on there dude!!! 👍

You mean the crazy croissant?? 😉 haha thanks man, it sounds great and gives really good power, I was grinning ear to ear the first time I rode it with it on. Just got to source some flexible pipe to link it to the dep can now as it blew a hole in the rubber grommet that was previously mating the 2!! 😭

Had a full tank of this when I bought my SYM Jet when I was 16, smelt like strawberries when I pulled the lid off the tank but as said; like normal 2 stroke when it was burned. Seems like abit of a shoddy marketing strategy to me!

    • RE: Excessive clutch drag?

Mine does this, a sticky clutch, and my dads Yanaha Fazer 600 did it too, with the Fazer he just put it in first, held the clutch in and rocked it back and fourth until it freed up. Was a pretty simple fix. But harder with my DT as it has 1 cylinder instead of 4, doing the same method turns the engine over, it'll still work but take abit longer. If I haven't ridden mine for abit I just get the revs up abit while in the garden before slowly releasing the clutch

@ConnorDTR do you have a picture matey? I'm still debating what to do to it but I'll probably do something like that. And I think they're called Bridgestone trail wings or trail riders or something, the standard tyres that come with the bike from new:)

@MIGHTYMAN Nope:( in hindsight I should have done to be honest, but it's been a good few months now since I got it's it's abit late really. I'm gonna look at flexible metal piping to bridge the gap or something like.
Apart from the fitting issue with that and the bracket that bolts to the frame being way out in happy with the pipe, I know what you're saying though, I just guess that he's using a different model dt to make the pipes on, and metal distorts when it's welded too?

    • RE: 4dl head fitting

The head alone won't transform the bike, I noticed some difference when I put a 3MB head on mine but not a huge amount, engine was bone stock 2.7k miles on it when I put it on so I knew there wasn't anything holding it back in terms of engine health. Like Calum said it'll need supporting mods. After exhaust I now need some better reeds and upgraded cdi then I'll notice more punch.

Had a good days riding today, it's ran on top form as usual all day until being about 10 miles from home, whizzing along at 70 when suddenly.... BWAAAAAAAH
power dropped completely and would barely get to 20mph. I thought the header had come off or even worse the pipe had split.
Pulled over and heard it coming from behind the side panel, the pipe was fine thankfully, pulled the panel off and all looked okay, until I put my fingers around the back of the rubber and turned it round
      http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w402/Burridge1/Mobile Uploads/image_zpshoxxbnhq.jpeg

I carried on for a bit but was getting dirty looks and going extremely slow so I pulled over again to see if I could do something with it. Ended up wrapping my glove around it with the Velcro then putting the rest of it up against the pipe, it worked thankfully, got to 50 which got me home okay. Shame about my trusty old richa glove, fully toasted.
      http://i1074.photobucket.com/albums/w402/Burridge1/Mobile Uploads/image_zpsejtvpeg6.jpeg

So now I've got to figure out what to do with this. As you can see the chamber is ridiculously out of line with the link pipe of the dep, I'd bodged it on originally hence why it went pop, just wish the Romeu pipe has a better fit.

    • RE: Nitro RC cars

@CYBER-NINJA Would do but don't have many decent videos of mine other than dodgy jump landings haha!! Type HPI savage bashing into YouTube, I've recently ordered the SS which is the build it yourself kit version that should be coming near the end of the month, 4.6cc monster truck 😄 and also type in ndor track, which is where I run my nitro buggy. Also got a Traxxas Slayer Pro 4x4 which is a short course truck that I've been romping round the garden today if you wanna look at them too, masses of fun!! Until you crash and break something of course, but saying that, I've crashed the traxxas into our incinerator bonfire thing several times today and it now looks like a crumpled beer can... Oops😋
