@declan
That muffler was already on the bike when I brought it about 8 years ago...
I've never seen another like that.
It has "type e11 bs au 193/t3.4" engraved on the side, but nothing comes up on google
Hi
I Recently brought a used exhaust off ebay for £65
I think the guy said it was off a 1990, It has 3MB14610 on it.
My bike is a 2003 DTR, Have I wasted my money?
It's been painted and looks in good nick, but neither of the silencers I have will fit it...
Does anyone know if either the Dep or Big One can will fit this front pipe ?
Should I just buy a full big one system ? Or should I just buy the can first and hope it fits ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hi
Can anyone tell me what this white plastic thing in the carb is called and what it does?
I don't have one on my carb, which I think is a Mikuni TM28ss
Is it important? :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:
Thanks
You guys have given me a lot to work with...
No, I definitely won't be riding it anywhere when it's running like this.
I'll print off this whole thread and show it to my friend who knows a lot more about bikes than me...
Thanks
Ok guys, You've been a big help,
The new carb has a 240 main jet too I think, but I'm not certain.
Should I put a 210 in?
I'll take off the carb at the weekend, double-check the jets, float height, and look for any leaks and adjust the screws on the carb.
Thanks
Ok, thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
I'm not very knowledgable about motorbikes, but I have a friend coming to help me at the weekend.
I'm not sure what I should do about the jets, because I don't think the exhaust is standard.
The previous owner must have changed the jets with the exhaust because it had a 240 main jet in, when the manual says to use a 210 main jet.
Should I buy the original yamaha exhaust so I can get the jetting exactly how the manual says?
I'm sorry if this is confusing
Do you mind if I come back at the weekend and ask a few more questions when I have more details?
Thanks for the help, I really appreciate it.
Hi guys,
I posted here a couple of months ago when I was having trouble with a leaking carb.
I tried everything to sort my carb out, but It just wouldn't stop leaking...
Last week I bit the bullet and just brought a refurbished carb for £180 and the leaking has stopped.
But now I have an even bigger problem,
The bike is still running very odd, Its hard to explain exactly.
It feels very sluggish, The power band feels delayed, like If I pull the throttle back, nothing happens, then it all comes at once. It doesn't feel safe. It feels like something is blocked... I had to ride up a hill in 1st because it has no power.
Also it's overheating like crazy, I rode it for about 5 minutes to try the new carb and the temp gauge was nearly in the red. (I've never seen it that high).
Can anyone tell me what might be my problem, Because I'm at a complete loss.
Thanks
@calum Ok, thanks for answering my questions I appreciate it, I may give it a go tomorrow.
I'm really tempted to have a go at it myself, but I don't want to lose any of the springs and screws or reassemble it incorrectly.
When I got my friend to take off the carb, the float was moving freely but he did adjust the float height slightly, but I don't think he set it bang on to 20-21mm like the manual suggests.
Do you think a 3mm difference could still cause the overflowing ?
It's leaking from the overflow pipe, and some little drips are coming through the seal.
Hey guys, I just signed up here and any help given would be greatly appreciated.
To cut a long story short, my carb is leaking...
I took it to the garage 2 times but it's like the mechanic can't be bothered to actually take the carb off, so he just ran some carb cleaner through it.
It's still leaking.
I got a friend to pull off the carb and remove the bottom and adjust the floats and clean what he can, but it's still leaking.
I'm not very mechanically minded so I'm hesitant to pull the carb off and work on it myself, so i was thinking of just buying a new carb and getting my friend to put it on.
From what I can gather from the manual, The carb on a 2003 DTR is a Mikuni VM26SS (3MB00)
Can anyone confirm this?
Also, there are some very cheap Chinese carbs for sale on eBay that look similar to mine,
Would it be a bad idea to buy one of them ?
Thanks
