Well on my TDR stock is 16/57 but I actually ordered 15/47, If the engine will struggle to pull it then im getting 14 teeth in the front, the gearing ratios with stock and 14/47 are almost the same but theoretically it should be easier to accelerate.
I used this table

Head
Got this in the mail yesterday, pumped to get it on the bike when the domed piston comes. TBH it looks like it hasn't even been run lol -
DT pipeHi,Sorry if this has been answered but I couldn't seem to find an answer to my question. Does DT exaust pipe(expansion chamber),like for example DEP fit to TDR or vice versa?
Thanks. -
HeadIt's standart bore, it is in pristine condition, not oval just the scores.
-
HeadWell here is a photo of the head -
Yea, I know that You need the full package but i will get it eventually. -
HeadYou misunderstood me, this is just a picture for reference. On mine scratches are on the exhaust side. : )
And what about the exaust pipe? -
HeadWell, at the moment I don't have any picture of it but it is similiar to this
Only my barrel has to 2 scratches and they are deeper. I came to conclusion that the previous owner decided to take it for a spin when he had rebuilt it, but "forgot" to put exhaust on and the tire threw some stone or something and it did few strokes with the rock in it. But i will probably pull the head this week to get a good photo of it.
Also quick question so I don't have to make new thread- does DT 125 pipe fit TDR there is some buthering to it too( last owner decided to pull the stuff from silencer and welds are 45 degrees on the pipe where they should of been smooth)? -
HeadWell, I ordered 3MB head and domed piston. My barrel is messed up quite bad, it has 2 scratches from exhaust port to top like 2mm deep, and it is blowing my head gasket regulary. I would stick to 4FU barrel but it is quite hard to get hands on one :(.
-
HeadI didn't quite understand what You meant. I should stick to 4FU or go 3MB?
-
NewbieOh yeah the barrel is scratched because the youngster decided to go for a quick spin without the exhust when he rebuilt it and rock or something like that got into the port and f*cked up the cylinder sidewall.
-
HeadThe ring is in the head or barrel? But if I get domed piston and later the 3mb barrel? The deal is just too good to let it slip by.
-
NewbieWell I want to derestric it fully, maybe get an aftermarket pipe.
It's almost rustless becouse of Latvian climate -
HeadI want to get the most performence out of the TDR, so I have come across 3MB head. Now I have 4FU, the question is - Can I use 3MB head with 4FU barrel( saving up for a 3MB one)? My bike doesn't have domed piston, btw.

NewbieHello, im a fellow yamaha rider from Latvia. I've been lurking around this forum for quite a while. Now I decided to sign up. I ride a 1998 Yamaha TDR 125(the heaviest and most restricted bike of Yam's 125 family) Here is a photo of it that convinced me to buy it . Before me it was owned by 7 different owners in 7 years since it was imported in to country, basically all of them rode for one season and didn't do any maintanance and decided to sell it after the season. 7 Years of not doing maintanece came down like a sh*tstorm to the little brat that owned it before and me. Plus he fell with it and scratched the left cowling so bad it was just easier to stickerbomb it. . After owning it for a year now im still in love like i was when i bought it. It had an issue with the balancer shaft, It wasn't put togheter right and the balancer shaft was actually making more vibrations that it is with out it ( very counter-productive). When I decided to put it togheter how it was supposed to be I saw thet the barrel had a huge mark in it( I don't have any pictures of it because it makes me cry )
Here are some photos of the rebuild(
I've changed out the tires aswell, because last owner was self glorified burnout master, idk how he did it tho because the engine is restrited.
I Hope this was good enough to get accepted in to the 2strokerhead club
