    • Introducing Spanners + DT 125r

      Hi to you all!
I am new to this DT 125 world.
What l do know is, I'm very honoured to be here.
My usual ride is a Yamaha MT07 but l decided over winter l was going to go back to my first love of crossers, hence the purchase of a pretty decent conditioned DT 125r.
The guy sounded like he really loved the bike and that means as much to me because you know it most likely hasn't been abused.
I'm so happy to be a custodian of a legend and a appreciating classic.
Some I'll be picking brains and annoying most you over these first months, my apologies in advance.
Thank you for having me! 👍

    • RE: Oil Pump/Auto lube dramas

Well guys I’m certainly in the right place with this forum.
@Calum I realise and understand your thinking, you always offer a way to still ride the bike to enjoy it. 😃
I just want to get shot of the bodges, turned screw heads, snapped bolts and quick fixes.
@oldman thank you for the contact, I really appreciate it. I’m hoping both the pumps l got hold of work, then l can send one off to be refurbished.
@NINJA thank you for your kind words, l say great minds think alike...... and congregate in similar places!
I should be able to take it out this weekend, even my new rear fender for AJ Sutton has turned up, that has got to be good luck! 🤣👍

      @calum
      Thanks again!
Seems strange a fragile part like this is unserviceable but l have managed to source a couple of units so l will check which works the best and replace the old one.
Now this should really be one of the last fixes, l can wait to finish off and enjoy the fruits of my labour!
And post a picture for you guys of course! 😂👍

    • 3BN CDI

All......I’m confused, l have just sourced a great find after having all the trouble with my electrics a 3BN wiring loom.
Unused and unmolested a great find....... unfortunately my existing CDI has different connectors to the loom and l have found one or two on eBay but they too have the same connectors as my old 3NC CDI.
Haynes manual shows same connectors as loom though?
Should l A) take existing CDI and redo connectors to suit loom?
      B) take this opportunity and just get a Zeeltronic to suit loom?

    • RE: 1989 rebuild update

@oldman Did you already have the steering and helmet lock parts or did you source them?
I have recently bought the frame which my bike didn’t have not the steering lock, looking for replacements with keys.

    • Servo motor troubles?

      Hi All
      Well here l am again.....ha-ha!
I have some stray wires l believe go to a servo motor.
The Haynes manual makes reference to as item 8 from the CDI unit on DT 3RM9 wiring page.
But there is no mention in the index?

@oldman Great bike fella! I’m still pulling my hair out with mine for now! Ha-ha!
Just wanted to inquire to where you got the beautiful shiny front brake hose clips on the front forks? I blacked mine as they were in pretty poor condition.

@finnerz89 Sorry for late reply. The bike is a X reg, 1999-2000.

    • RE: Kick stand kill switch

@dan28 If you see the picture on the first post, all l have is the female end of where the kill switch plugs in.
I have never had a kill switch on the bike so l have nothing to figure it out from.
As said l jumped the two pins inside the connector, in theory completing the circuit.
Unfortunately this hasn’t solved the problem.
As said, any advice is greatly received! 👍

@dan28 l have tried that Dan, it doesn’t work.
Strangely it works a little bit, but as you go up the revs in cuts out.
It plays with you a little bit, then leaves you to do the walk of shame back to your house whilst it laughs behind your back.
      Maybe I’ve dramatised that a little.....ha-ha! 😂😡

Well to buy a new one is around £60, considering to bike never had one and they seemed quite annoying if they fail l figured l would just over ride it.
But I’ve had a word with the lads at GB Breakers and they have one for a decent price.
Also l can’t figure out how to do it! Ha-ha!
Will l ever get to ride the DT l have built......🤣

      @finnerz89
So I’ve just been on YouTube and l think now l should take the two wires and connect them then ground them both to the frame.
I believe this is to stop the rectifier over heating.
Does this sound about right? 😂👍
