All......I’m confused, l have just sourced a great find after having all the trouble with my electrics a 3BN wiring loom.
Unused and unmolested a great find....... unfortunately my existing CDI has different connectors to the loom and l have found one or two on eBay but they too have the same connectors as my old 3NC CDI.
Haynes manual shows same connectors as loom though?
Should l A) take existing CDI and redo connectors to suit loom?
B) take this opportunity and just get a Zeeltronic to suit loom?

1989 rebuild update@oldman Did you already have the steering and helmet lock parts or did you source them?
I have recently bought the frame which my bike didn’t have not the steering lock, looking for replacements with keys. -
Servo motor troubles?Hi All
Well here l am again.....ha-ha!
I have some stray wires l believe go to a servo motor.
The Haynes manual makes reference to as item 8 from the CDI unit on DT 3RM9 wiring page.
But there is no mention in the index?

New Wiring LoomHi All
Does anyone one in the forum know where to get a new loom from?
Mine is a 2000 model.
Thanks in advance for any information! -
1988 rebuild update@oldman Great bike fella! I’m still pulling my hair out with mine for now! Ha-ha!
Just wanted to inquire to where you got the beautiful shiny front brake hose clips on the front forks? I blacked mine as they were in pretty poor condition. -
Kick stand kill switch@finnerz89 Sorry for late reply. The bike is a X reg, 1999-2000.
-
Kick stand kill switch@dan28 If you see the picture on the first post, all l have is the female end of where the kill switch plugs in.
I have never had a kill switch on the bike so l have nothing to figure it out from.
As said l jumped the two pins inside the connector, in theory completing the circuit.
Unfortunately this hasn’t solved the problem.
As said, any advice is greatly received! -
Kick stand kill switch@dan28 l have tried that Dan, it doesn’t work.
Strangely it works a little bit, but as you go up the revs in cuts out.
It plays with you a little bit, then leaves you to do the walk of shame back to your house whilst it laughs behind your back.
Maybe I’ve dramatised that a little.....ha-ha! -
Kick stand kill switch@calum
Well to buy a new one is around £60, considering to bike never had one and they seemed quite annoying if they fail l figured l would just over ride it.
But I’ve had a word with the lads at GB Breakers and they have one for a decent price.
Also l can’t figure out how to do it! Ha-ha!
Will l ever get to ride the DT l have built...... -
Kick stand kill switch@finnerz89
So I’ve just been on YouTube and l think now l should take the two wires and connect them then ground them both to the frame.
I believe this is to stop the rectifier over heating.
Does this sound about right? -
Kick stand kill switch@finnerz89
Thank you for the advice, l will have a go later! -
Kick stand kill switch@ninja
Thanks Ninja!
I think that is the best step, checking all the associated wires for wear.
Next thing is maybe buying a clucking kill switch! Ha-ha! -
Kick stand kill switch@declan
Hi Declan
Thanks for the advice, and yes that’s what a was saying.
If you see in the picture, the Blue connector is what the kill switch plugs into.
I don’t actually have a kill switch, so l can jump the wires past the female connector.
Surely the CDI can’t be that intelligent where it requires a certain resistance? -
Kick stand kill switch@calum
I have done that Calum but it doesn’t seem to stop it killing the engine.
And as said it is fine out of gear, just when you start to ride.
I’m at a brick wall with it, l have had the Haynes manual out, sorted all if the wires.
Installed indicators, even sorted the parking light out! Ha-ha!
But this has beat me!
Everything l watch on YouTube they have the kill switch and cut the switch off then use wire past the connectors.
Where as I’m just jumping them at the female end connector?
Unfortunately l know nothing about electrical, apart from common sense! -
Kick stand kill switchAll,
I’m still struggling with the switch and how to kid the CDI it is still present.
I still have the male or female end of the blue plug so l got two electrical connections and put on each pin to complete the circuit.
Unfortunately this has failed to convince the somewhat intelligent DT that the switch is still present.
It must be the switch because out of gear it is fine, in gear it just dies.
Is it looking for a certain resistance, do l need the other male end?
So l was wondering what some of you guys have done to get around this problem?
-
Pv adjustment helpGents, assuming you can see the picture I’ve uploaded after further inspection l don’t have a kick stand switch and the blue connector is in the picture unjumped.
Have was the bike running and why isn’t it now?
I will try to jump them but just nosey! -
Pv adjustment help@declan
Thanks, l found a post from earlier this year with a guy having the same trouble.
Unbelievable a little switch can cause much trouble. Should have a light to say the circuit is broken.
Been years since l pushed a motorcycle home! Ha-ha! -
Pv adjustment helpAll! Big thanks for all of your replies and assistance.
My clutch problem was indeed a adjustment issue, half a turn on handlebar adjuster.
I guess soaking them for 24 hours would be better, but according to the Haynes manual not necessary as it just says cover them in the gearbox oil prior to installation.
But god darn it is a rocket for a 125cc! Considering l have a 700cc bike it still made me smile as it squirted up to 70mph! Ho-ho!
But l have to say l had to push her home, l now have another problem!
She died on me......
Starts all fine, put her in gear and she just dies!
What the cluck could be causing this?
P.S l am not gonna give up on this bike now, as it is practically new with all the parts I’ve changed!
Again that’s in advance for all of your help! -
Pv adjustment help@calum
I bought a full clutch kit we replaced everything.
All springs are new and we adjusted it to the best of our knowledge and skill.
Maybe the problem was with the repairers! Ha-ha!
Clutch seems pretty solid apart from the power valve, you would have thought if it was slipping, it would do it through all the gears?
I’ll get it up to full speed in 5th to see if it slips, then back to the old drawing board...... -
Pv adjustment help@finnerz89
The bike apparently had a top end rebuild before l got it so l have not messed with anything to do with that. I will have a read and investigate tomorrow.
Thank you for your help!
