How much should a carb cost?
-
The carb that came on my recently purchased DTR isn't really fit to keep going.
I've found an exact replacement Mikuni carb on Ebay for £150, my local mechanic quoted £450 for a new one.
Is 150 a good price? it still seems like a lot.

I've ended up just buying it. My situation means I need one ASAP really.
150 is a lot less than the 450 the mechanic quoted. At least I'm not being ripped off quite as badly as I could have been.
I would still be interested to know how much anyone thinks it should cost.

Wow I used to buy ones like new from a Gilera sc125 or the Derbi gpr125 (the older 2 stroke ones) for about £20

I'll let myself think that there's something special about this one for the DT that warrants it's high price, although I somehow doubt that's the case. Oh well... Hopefully my bike works this time next week.

Uhhmm no. You can get something really special for that Price!
It all depends though. If it's brand new then fantastic! If it's old and used then no. I sold my perfectly good one for about 30 quid and a special one for about 60.
The dt carb can be had anywherr they are common. But if you get it new then 150 sounds like a goof price. Although it's a carb so unless it's shagged I would have gone used.
