    I need an MPH speedo for 1998 DT125R, in good condition please. Also, if not does anyone know of a company that can take a KPH speedo and re engineer it to show MPH? Many thanks for advice.

      I think you can get a sticker on eBay that goes on the dial. Not sure if it’s good or bad…

        Thanks. Just ordered a few but still keen on an MPH speedo if I can find one. I am told by another member that an XT 350/600 speedo is the same but measures up to 100 mph (which it will never do!).

          Yep, I’ve seen them before. Not sure which models they’ve fitted on apart from them being mid-late 80’s 🙂 Also don’t know if they are ‘plug & play’ or if you need the matching speedo drive or gearing. I would imagine they just fit and work…

              No use now, but there was a 160kph speedo on eBay for about £60. It would of needed the format changing, but hey! Poor people can only be so choosy 😛 …

              I can’t remember all the models it had listed as compatible, but there was an XT550 that I’ve never heard of before? Just another option for the search engine 🙂 …

                Cheers. Have just bought an MPH overlay and today got a local engineer to cut a piece of 2mm clear acrylic in the exact shape of the speedo including all the cut outs etc. I am hoping that I can take the existing speedo off and then get inside it and replace the KPH face with the new pieces. Do you they if they are difficult to get into and how the face actually comes off as I dont want to damage it as its mint? Any thoughts?

                  Cheers.                   @Ponds1 first remove the trip counter reset knob by turning clockwise, the opposite way to which you'd turn it to reset it. Then remove the back, warm it up with a hair dryer to soften the glue. Then the critical part, if you don't do this the Speedo will never read correctly. Gently and carefully prize the needle over the needle stop peg and let it come to a rest, make a note of the position with a bit of tape, measurements etc. Take a back up photo too. Then gently prize off the needle with a small screwdriver on opposite sides at same time, undo the 2 screws and the face is free. Replace needle in same position when reassembling then lift it back over the stop peg.

                      @Ponds1 if you are getting the converter then don't touch the clock face. It alters it by the correct ratio so the kmh clock will read mph. Example, at 10mph the needle will show 10kmh, at 20mph it will show 20kmh. It converts it for you.

                        Hi Markus, the current clock face is in KPH. The overlay I have is in MPH and secondary KPH. The odometer at present is also in KPH. If I change the overlay on the face dial to MPH with the same gearing, as you say it wont read properly. But if I add the converter then it would show MPH correctly and also mean the odometer will also now be in miles. Is that correct?

                        What I am trying to achieve is that the clocks show MPH and actually read MPH and the odometer also measure in miles. Is my theory correct?

                        Appreciate your help before I cock something up!

                          @Ponds1 if you change the gearing then the odometer will read in miles. So will the speedo. It will alter the gearing so at any given amount of mph, example 35 mph, will read as 35 kph on your Speedo. It will do the conversion itself so don't touch the face. If you do change the face to mph then it will be correct but the odometer will still measure kilometres. Only change one or the other.

                            So the converter is only converting to match the KPH face then and not a real converter i.e. really changing to mph. Sounds like I need to find a proper MPH speedo after all! Don't suppose you have a good one you fancy selling? Appreciate your help as you have saved me a lot of aggro. Cheers
