My 1998 DTR Project

Thanks!
Yeah the WR was awful lol.
I have ran into a problem with the rear wheel though, the dt spindle is too thick but the YZF spindle isn’t long enough. Should I get the dt spindle machined down or extend the YZF spindle? Not sure how I’d got about either to be honest!
Would like to fit a seat from an dt re or dtx and get rid of that hideous red thing though

@ricky0115 Hopefully off the shelf.
Sounds like you're going to need some basic engineering tools bud.
You're going to want to get yourself a Vernier Caliper

Because bearings will fail and you don't want it to be a pain in the back side.
If you can't get the bearings you want off the shelf, then the next logical step would be to get bearings suited to the external diameter of the spindle.
You might be able to machine the wheel hub to accept a larger bearing, but be wary not to go too thin.
Probably preferrably I'd have a spigot ring made up to press fit into the hub, reducing the size, and therefore not weakening the integrity of the wheel.
The Spigot ring would take up the slack from the undersized bearing.
simplybearings.co.uk has your back for all your bearing needs.

@calum had a micrometer in my tool box not a fancy LCD one though! Simplybearings has the ones in need 20x35x11 so now all I need is the spacer between the bearings? Guessing I will have to get it made up along with the outer spacers or machine down the DT spacer?
Thanks

@ricky0115 I'd make it up from fresh. To turn down a piece of ally, is going to be like literally £10 and worth doing.
I will leave the measuring up to you, but remember, to measure, measure and measure again. Don't leave anything to chance.

Decided to change the seat cover this afternoon before work, also reshaped it so it fits the MX fender more natural & installed my trail tech in my bar pad.
Not sure if I like the cut plastic on the back
How’s my shaping?
Trailtech vapor, not sure how to overcome the crinkle of the pad tape
