Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. A while back, I inquired about a symptom on my DTR. After so many failed attempts to fix it, the bike has been improving almost like magic. Or it could also be due to a trip I took, totaling 1,300 km, that may have loosened some carbon in the exhaust. On the other hand, I'm going to rebuild the dog soon. My cylinder is 3mb, but my head is 3bn. I'd like to rework the head and make it look like 3mb or better. (Where I live, you can't get a 3mb head, or it's very difficult to get one.) I simply want to rework the head I have and see if I can get a little more performance out of it. The rest of the bike is completely original, just de-restricted. I'd love to install a Zeeltronic, but given where I live, importing one would cost me about €200 more than it costs in Europe. So the question is, my CDI is a 3RM20. Would there be any problem with it and its curve if I re-machined the head and left it with a nice 0.6 squish? Maybe 50% bandwidth? Perhaps the same cc/ml as it has without re-machining? These are just ideas, but I'd like to hear from others who know more. Thanks!

The 3RM CDI, to my knowledge is supposed to be pretty good. Could always look into the ignitech CDIs to see if they're a bit cheaper.

I wouldn't have thought machining the head would result in any necessary changes to the ignition curve. You should be fine as it is.

Obviously, an aftermarket CDI is going to allow you to tailor the bike better.

Regarding the CDI I have, I read the same thing, so it's fine. I was looking for Ignitech, which is a little cheaper, but it turns out that in my country imports up to $200 are tax-exempt; you only pay for shipping and the product itself. If it costs more than $200, you have to pay an additional 60% in taxes. Regarding the CDI head and curve, I was asking about possible detonation or some other symptom that might not be very positive or beneficial. I was looking at the RSA 125 head design; I didn't expect it to work the same, but at least it seems like a design I could consider reliable or better than the current one. Everything is quite complicated here in Uruguay: resources, possibilities, etc. Perhaps with a test bench or sensors it would be easier, combined with the knowledge acquired over the years. There's a visa I could apply for; it's somewhat expensive, but it allows me to go to the UK to work and travel for two years. Maybe I could try my luck there. There's a lot of desire, but the problem is the resources available here. Thanks @Calum
