@SpookDog Hi mate, its cool, many thanks for even trying to help, goes a long way and stuff like that makes for a great friendly forum. Theres no rush anyway for me to get hold of the parts, its a long term project anyway, plus my cbt expired in 2008, thats the last time i legally rode a 125! So nowhere near ready to ride yet lol. I'll keep a look out online for a complete item. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Speedo drive no innards :(The pin was not there, i managed to pull the brass insert out in the vice, if the threads werent knackered enough already, they are now. Could still get a bite on them though possibly, somehow. Sorry for late reply, been busy with the car.

Speedo drive no innards :(Hi all. Managed to purchase a speedo drive cable for the DT, its been sat in my kitchen since january doing nothing. Have removed the wheel to help fitment of the drive cable due to the brass threads on the drive housing being a bit damaged, upon removal i find there is no innards, just an empty speedo drive unit Anybody know where i can get one for cheap, or is anyone selling one? Its a 1992 DT125 - I found one on ebay that was similair but upon inspection it was for the older model which is on the other side of the hub i think judging by pictures. Many thanks to the guy who sold me it, leaking head gasket, now this! Merry Christmas all.

dt125 rad cap seal / head gaskethi guys, i have refitted the resevoir and the associated lines and topped up the rad and filled up the overflow tank to the upper line, when engine is warm and revved its shooting coolant and bubbles out the overflow tank and it smells like exhaust fumes, it has been like this when i bought it earlier this year, i havent even ridden it apart from 2 minute ride when viewing. So im going to whip the head off and inspect, is there any advice on anything before i do that, perhaps i am missing something, doubt it but 2nd opinions are welcome? Looking to get it roadworthy before autumn, even with this issue the engine sound great, revs freely and ticks over nicely as my neighbours will contest to. Many thanks all.

Speedo cable mot time questionHi guys, wasnt sure on correct section but its part of the front hub assembly afterall. Im getting my bike ready for its mot, i think the previous mot was a dodgy one and it hadnt been mot'd for a while previous to that. Question is this: Do i need a working speedo for the mot, ie: my speedo cable is missing and alls is there is the brass connector in the hub, i will probably buy a cable anyway before the time comes but im just curious as i have read contrasting info online whether its required. Many thanks.

dt125 rad cap seal / head gasketok guys, thanks for the info, so when i refit it and top my rad back up, should i leave the overflow empty or fill it up and what should its behaviour be so i can monitor it. Many thanks.

dt125 rad cap seal / head gaskethi guys, i will replace it then as i didnt realise the coolant went in and back out of it, i thought it was just there to catch expelled fluid, so there is the one main line into the bottom of the expansion tank and what seems to be a thin overflow at the top, there is no lid on my expansion tank, am i right in thinking this tank is not pressurised and i can just make a cap for it? many thanks.

dt125 rad cap seal / head gasketHi guys, i have removed my coolant overflow tank from my dt and have the overflow line down by the frame mx style, when i rev it and it builds up coolant pressure it spits water out of it, past the rad cap seal, im thinking i may have a small head gasket to coolant leak, can anybody advise anything.

MX helmet road use questionThanks guys, i think i will try get a road helmet for my cbt and use my old lazer for the dt until i buy a new one, didnt realise you could get them, as cheap as 30 new. many thanks.

MX helmet road use questionHi guys, i have acquired another dt, a 92 model with some mot left, i want to take my cbt in next week or so and get some riding in before its stripped down when mot runs out, i have had a cbt 20 years ago and just getting back into bikes, finally, i am 36 now and still have my old acu gold stickered lazer mx helmet that i bought new 20 years ago too, im wondering is this legal to use on the road with my DT and more so, can i use it on my cbt test instead of renting a helmet? I will obviously buy a better helmet in the near future but bit strapped for cash at moment and want to save where i can. Many thanks.

Unable to keep engine running, please help!@SpookDog Hi mate, I sold it on friday, it went straight away, both i and the buyer were happy with the price so a fair deal for the work it will need.

Unable to keep engine running, please help!@Calum Thanks Calum, yes i didnt plan on doing a full resto, which is the bes thing for it imo, i just wanted to see if i could get it going and get it roadworthy but you never know what your letting yourself in for sometimes until you start taking it apart! I think the best thing about this bike is that the engine numbers match the frame numbers and they are also correct on the logbook! So thats a good starting point. Thanks for the help, Im sure i'll be back at some point when i source another one.

Unable to keep engine running, please help!@SpookDog Hi spookdog, thanks for the help, I have just put long blue wire to neutral switch and removed side stand wire from earth, still sparking only with the killswitch in off position. The flywheel is not part of the cover and i also do not have the correct puller to remove it. I did many years ago, but not anymore! In all honesty it doesnt matter if it runs or not now, as i have come to the conclusion there are too many parts missing, from sections of wiring, to the parts that regulate current for the lights and clocks, there are also parts missing from inside the casing,ie' speedo drive gear, i think it needs too much, i am not prepared to source all those bits and spend the time nor money doing so. so i am going to sell it as it is, and purchase one in better condition. I have tried everything i am capable of to get it running and have gotten somewhere at least which is a far cry from the state i got it in. Its all assembled now waiting for the next poor soul to come along and try their luck. I dont think the previous owner got it going either and he had it 2 years.

Unable to keep engine running, please help!@SpookDog Hi, i disconnected the kill switch, did not spark at all then, so i traced what i believe to be the kick stand wire according to my haynes manual that has finally arrived! Its the Ukraine flag colour, so i have earthed that to the frame. It is giving one or two more fires and is spitting bigger flames from the exhaust port now but it still refuses to fire up, but it definitely is a touch better , but nothing more. I also earthed what i believe to be the neutral wire, light blue one, then it was not sparking. I have the kill switch out the system now and just have the black wire that went to it, earther to frame (it comes from the small 2 wire connector with the orange one at the coil.
Thats where im at, i have noticed that the plug will only spark when the flywheel is span fast with the drill, if you spin it relatively slowly it refuses to spark, however, i dont know what i did earlier but i had the plug sparking when the flywheel was span slowly, at that point i fitted the plug, kicked it and it fired immediately, then died, upon removal of plug and again, spinning the flywheel, it had reverted back to previous state of no spark at slow flywheel speed. It is very confusing. It seems to be doing different things. Im pretty much out of ideas now. I have taken 2 pictures. One of the wiring i have, probably the worst loom in DT history and one of the kickstand wire earthed, also the coil wires setup, these are the only wires i have modified and attached to anything, the rest is gone basically.
Thanks for the help guys. It wants to start and ive come a long way from buying it in literal bits, its just that last little thing now, hopefully i can get it going!![alt text](https://ibb.co/9wKwp0T
