Following advice from HOTSHOT III I have decided not to purchase a cheap aftermarket coil for my non runner and get a genuine Yamaha one. I have looked on Fowlers but the part numbers do not match with mine. The part number of mine which I know to be the original coil is 3RW-10 43D but the one from Fowlers is 3RW-H2310=00 and they are out of stock. I am waiting for a reply from Fowlers about compatibility and delivery time. Has anyone else had this issue? I may be interested in a good used coil if anyone has one for sale.

2004 DT RE COIL QUESTION -
New member needing adviceJOHNES said:
HOTSHOT III thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure the coil is knackered. I tested it with the multimeter and got a reading of .0005 ohm on the primary and nothing at all on the secondary so I think the coil and the plug lead/cap are both knackered. There are a few little jobs that need doing but I do not want to spend money on them until I get it running. I am going to price one up at Fowlers as you suggested. The last time I started the bike it ran for about 20 minutes and was idling nicely as it always did then it cut out and would not start. I still had spark then. I took the carb off and cleaned it but did not find anything wrong and then the battery died and it has not been started since so I need a spark to see if the carb is ok. The bike has only done 11,300 miles and is in generally good order so I hope I can get it running again. I was planning to MOT the bike then sell it but I might change my mind and keep it. Just checked Fowlers but they are out of stock.

New member needing adviceI all, I am a new member and i have a 2004/05 DT re which has been stored for a few years and is now a non runner due to no spark. I have tested the coil and it is goosed. Are the cheap coils on E bay any good and are the so called racing coils which are supposed to provide a stronger spark worth the extra money.
