@Calum i am thinking on ignitech programmable cdi. Its about 200 euro and one of my friends used that. Is zeeltronic a little better than that? Comparably they to pretty much the same thing and can be programmed similarly, but zeeltronic is just more expensive.

Dtr 125 1997 Rebuild/RestorationHello again.
Ive returned and i will start my build waay to late in to the summer.
Ive ordered new parts and id like to know yalls opinions
The parts:
Full Athena exhaust,
piston,
turn signals,
Plastics,
Pwk 36 carburetor,
Athena gaskets,
Bearings and bushings,
And a little paint.Im planning to go full black on the plastics and put dark blue decals on them, also im going to paint the frame yamaha 403 dark blue.
Ive already upgraded my front suspention with dt 125 1980-1990 sumting motocross springs, heavier oil 15w, and put the stock spacer in my right fork. For the rear ive maxed out the shock and it rides lika dream even without the new parts yet.
The engine is in pretty good condition, all the gears are good but ive noticed that some bearings need to be replaced. I am very suprised that my crank is still good and not rattling beacuse ive used the bike for enduro/motocross/road usage. But my 3mb00 cylinder has a mirror finish and with my old piston has 75 psi but it still ripps and keeps up with a 2017 ktm sx 125 on full gas. Im sending the cylinder to my local shop to get it honed, then il run it with my old puston till the new parts arrive.
On the electrical side, everything is in meh condition. I need to rewire some parts and make some adjustments so i can put on my new turn signals. The biggest problem tha i have is that my derestrictor switch dosent work on the first try, i need to switch it for 30 seconds or so that it derestricts it and i have been thinking of putting somekind of a toggelable repeater on it so i dont have to mess with it, but i havent decided.
About the frame. It has some rust and dabage but mostly its all good, as a said before im thinking of spraying it with yamaha 403 dark blue paint, other than that im going to replace my swingarm bushings tomorrow, beacuse they are shot and rusted as hell.
For the drivetrain i bought a 15/51 sprokets so i can cruise at 90km/h in about 6000rpm and the top speed should be around 135km/h according to gearingcommander website.
Lastly i would like to ask, is there a way that i could increase my revs to about 11k rpm? Right now it maxxes at like 9.5k and dosent sound the best.
All the feedback is greatly appreciated.

Fuel consumtionHello.
I would like some help on my fuel consumption. The bike drinks about 9 liters of 98 octane per 100km. What should i do to fix my it? Im sending my cylinder to get rehoned and ive already ordered a new piston. But id like to know why it chugs fuel. Everything on it is stock right now and ive cleaned the whole engine, carburetor and emptied the exhaust.

Replacing the stock rear shock with a cr 85 reiger one.@SpookDog thank you for the advice lad. The dude is selling the shock because he managed to ride it so hard that it broke in half lol.

Replacing the stock rear shock with a cr 85 reiger one.Hello.
I wanted to ask if i can replace the stock shock with a reiger or rager rear cr 85 shock. The dimentions are close (height 400mm) but i am worried that it will be too weak. Can i switch it or should i get a bigger one?
Il post a pic in the comments

Dtr 125 1997 Rebuild/Restoration@SpookDog uncle said that he think its adjustable at the bottom. Actually its the screw to let oil out.
-
Dtr 125 1997 Rebuild/Restoration@SpookDog i just got new front fork from my uncle. He had a yamaha dt 125 back in the day, but i dont know witch year. il send a pic of them soon. The fork has adjustability settings on top and also bottom. They need a oil change but should be good for replacement front forks.

Dtr 125 1997 Rebuild/Restoration@HOTSHOT-III Thank you lad. I saw a video on yt about the tz style plastic but the link didnt work and google gave me nothing. Also i ride it as a hobby and mostly smaller tracks bc the bike struggles on bigger tracks, i live in Estonia. And about the suspention i was thinking on the rear shock you gave, but the front. I was thinking on putting heavier oil like w20 and spacers on the springs. As i said my budget isnt that big and most of it is going in to the restoration so i am going to be left with probably 300 to 200 euro for straight upgrades and new parts. I am gonna respond to this in more detail after Christmas. Right now im typing this on my phone and im a bit of a hurry with the Holliday activities.

Dtr 125 1997 Rebuild/RestorationI forgot to add that I use this motorcycle as a daily driver and as a dirt bike on the track. Its really good on the track but my suspension is too soft and I cant jump with it.

Derestrict yamaha dt 125 r 1997@markus-w
You told me to cut the wires and keep them apart lad. That didn't work, what i did was i cut the wires and connect them at the right time to somehow bypass the restriction. -
Dtr 125 1997 Rebuild/RestorationHello.
I am gonna restore/rebuild my dtr 125 1997 and i made this thread to post what I'm doing and to ask for advice.
My plan of action is to:
- Take everything apart
- Remove rust and paint it with new colors.
- Restore the plastics.
- Fix my extremely soft suspension.
- Fix/look over all the wiring
- New parts
I was thinking on painting the frame with the metallic Subaru blue, does anyone know if it will look nice? Also I'm gonna paint over the plastics and try to put a Honda crf 250 2017 rear plastic tip on it, I don't like like the original rear plastic i think it looks like a egg. If anyone knows if there is a yz like rear plastic that fits without modification please tell me.
I'm gonna start the restoration some days after Christmas and then I'm gonna start posting pictures. Any advice or stuff to look out for before the build is greatly appreciated. Also my budget isn't huge so i cant spend a lot on new parts or stuff like that. The main thing i want to do is give it a new look and make it look like a roadworthy motorcycle, right now it looks like a barn find that was kept somewhat nicely. Excuse my english its my 3rd language. -
Derestrict yamaha dt 125 r 1997@SpookDog I GOT IT! I derestricted it. It took me a long time and a lot of anger but i DID IT! I did it by cutting the reed switch wires and putting the reed switch in its place with exposed open wires. Then i turned the bike on and kickstarted it, after that i revved till it hit the rev limiter and connected the wires till the rev limiter passed 6.5K without staying stuck and taped up the wires so they don't touch (Not the wires that are on the reed switch. The ones that come to it) and put them away. now the bike accelerates beyond 80km/h 50mp/h.

Derestrict yamaha dt 125 r 1997@Mr-Shadi i searched for wiring diagrams and i found one very pixelated one that showed the reed switch and its just 2 wires that go in to the cdi with nothing in between and there were 18 wires.
-
Derestrict yamaha dt 125 r 1997@markus-w it has a restricted cdi but its weird that if i move the reed switch at all it dosent rev over 6k. and i was thinking if i cut the wires and leave the reed switch in its place without the wires, maybe it will work.

Derestrict yamaha dt 125 r 1997@SpookDog sorry for not being active i had stuff to do. yeah its a 4bl not a dl, if u google 4bl this bike will come up and its exactly my bike and the reed switch i already drew it was green/red and a blue one
