    Hi guys, I was going through my spares today and noticed one of the ignition covers has 3 screws and a metal plate inside and the other was just plastic, does any one know why and which goes with what engine? as mine is a bit of a mungrel

      @rking7888 Can't really mix them up, one won't fit due to the fact the stator plate bolts to the magneto cover. The other the stator mounts ot the crank case.

      So it depends on which type of engine you have. It's only the 4DLs and DTREs where the magneto is inverted and the stator mounted to the cover.

      Unless of course I am mistaken.

        @calum thanks mate I'm not sure why I've got it, I believe I'm running a 3bn and got the original 3mb in the box with this one with the 3 screws and metal plate but only seem to see them on the realy late dt's, just duno why the previous owner would have it.

          I’ve got one cause it was £5 and I wanted to try and fit it to my 88/89 engine, polished. Never got round to trying...
