    Hello everyone,

My bike liked chewing up CDIs. I believe the voltage regulater went some time ago, unbeknownst to me. This blew two of my CDIs, after which the regulater was replaced. A third partly blew after a faulty ground connection. The bike used the 11 pin 3NC-00 CDI, but I am having trouble finding any online for a sensible price. I researched the post made on the old forum, looking at the interchangeability of other CDIs from other models.

Before I decide which CDI to hunt for I wanted to ask if anyone has successfully changed over from a 3NC to a different one, how it worked, any issues etc.

    TIA

I exclusively run Zeeltronics on all of my bikes, but getting genuine CDIs is getting harder to come by.

I'm amazed you've managed to break so many though, that's almost unheard of.

Swapping the CDIs is pretty common, the main thing is making sure you get a CDI which supports your powervalve system (either 3 wire or 5 wire units).

Not all CDIs are equivalent, the 3RM CDIs were decidedly the less restrictive of the pack, but good luck finding one of those these days.

I always looked at getting a direct original replacement, as I knew they worked and mainly because a couple years ago they were cheaper than the custom ones. However, now its tough to find an 11 pin for a reasonable price, which is why i'm considering other options. As long as a CDI fits and runs unrestricted I will be happy with it. Personally I preferred to run my bike without the PV plugged in but that is a big feature of the bikes so finding another 3 pin compatible one is a big factor.

@aragian You can use a tzr125 4DL cdi, same connections, except you have to make a bypass wire for the neutral switch/light, in the 3NC goes through the CDI,in the 4DL does not.

I need my tools and a pile of junk.....
