I've fitted the stator plate (rebuilding the engine) and didn't mark it... as far as I'm aware it can only really go in one position anyway? When putting the flywheel onto the plate, is there a position the crank needs to be in? Ie should the woodruff key be pointing in a particular direction? Worried about getting the timing wrong, as i rebuilt the engine last month and on kicking it over blew the seals when i turned the kill switch off (anyone any ideas on that to?).

      Cheers.

Yes, the crank is pulled top dead center before the balancer shaft is connected.

So long as you have done that, you would be alright.

Thanks Calum, I'm a bit rubbish with the accurate stuff. Is top dead centre when the crank is extended to the full? Or just off?

@jamesdowning there are dots on the primary output shaft and the balancer shaft that must align. You can't get it wrong. You pull the crank upwards fullt TDC. Then slide the primary gear cog onto the primary shaft, mating it to rhe balancer shaft gear. The dots will align. Then timing is complete.

Thanks mate, so when those dots are aligned its in top dead centre!? I've already rebuilt the gear box so know that part is okay .

All makes sense, so i can fix the flywheel on in any position and it'll be okay?
