Heat shielding
-
Is there any heat shielding as standard on the DTR125? I noticed that there is an ‘area’ that looks like it had a top/cover on the battery area?...
Anyone done any diy wrapping on the pipe? Especially near the rectifier (on early bikes) and CDI area. I’m seriously thinking of doing mine from the top expansion chamber mount backwards to the silencer mount. Maybe an ally plate to cover the battery...
Any experience or input would be sweet... -

Can't say I've seen it done.
On my DTRE there used to be heat shiedling on the plastics around the battery area, presumably to stop them from melting. But other than that I've not seen any.

@Calum thinking about it 'around the battery area' is also near to where the exhaust join is, I guess Yamaha anticipated them connectors failing regularly.
It’s around the battery I’m wanting to do. The previous owner/abuser melted the rectifier wiring/plug. The wiring is dogged enough as is (one of the jobs left is to remake the loom, it’s one of the worst I’ve ever seen) without me melting it worser

Is there a cover for the battery aa standard? Any pics would be awesome... -
