@Hybrid_Theory01 minimum 13.8 volts. 14v for a gel battery.

I’m my experience idle voltage can be a bit lower than at say, 2500rpm, but I have an early (1988) stator setup with 3 separate coils, 1 each for lights, ignition and charging. AmpH/wattage is another thing, I think...

@SpookDog i was getting 11 something volts at idle with lights on and a bad chinese velocimeter, the battery was also new, now im rebulding the bike and i will go over the wiring, i will also upgrade the velocimeter, i was thinking about building my own RPM, speed and temperature detector with a Arduino, 3 sensors and a oled display, problem is that it might be a little to bulky, im still researching about it, if you guys have any experience with arduinos i would love the help!

On tick over you with lights on you would be lucky to get more than 12.5v, and 11.5v sounds about right. But in the real world we don’t ride on tick over. Measure the charge voltage @3.5k and you should be looking at 13.8 to 14.5 volts. As a rule of thumb 50w @12vdc is about 4 amps current draw. And the last time I checked DT has a 3amp battery, and I would always knock 25% off the battery so you could be looking at a battery with 2.25 amps. Which is not a lot if you want to play with stuff on the bike. -
