Temperature sensor DT 125 R

Yep! The engine is the earth and the temp gauge reads the differing resistance along the single wire...
Do you have a temp gauge or a red warning light?...

@Hybrid_Theory01 Sounds like a cool project, stock DTR clocks are off the scale expensive now and I've never liked the looks of the Aliexpress ones.
Maybe take a look at these, the GPX TSE250R uses a DT230 Lanza engine built under licence and runs digital clocks. You might need the wheel sensor as well for the speedo but these are around half the price of Trail Tech etc.

@HOTSHOT-III I Will probably use a arduino to measure RPM with a induction sensor in the spark plug wire and engine temperature and a bicycle speedo for speed and put it all in a little box to make it look decent and to have some protection
-
@Hybrid_Theory01 That sounds good, post up a how-to on here when you've done it! I ran a bicycle computer on a grey import 400 (with kmh speedo) back in the 90s, a lot of them are backlit now and have a lot more features. And programming in wheel circumference makes them 100% accurate even when experimenting with tyre choice

@HOTSHOT-III I was thinking, you can get GPS modules for Arduinos pretty cheap. And GPS speed is really accurate. Only works if you're moving though
-
@HOTSHOT-III I will be basing myself on this project, but probably without shift lights: http://hackalizer.com/arduino-rpm-meter-and-shift-light/

I started working on it
