dt 125x crankcase seal what way
-
@HOTSHOT-III
No, its not a genuine one nothing on the seal saying, so should i have the spring side facing in. -
@Waggstar Just fished out a new genuine one and it actually has a garter spring on both seal lips!
The one marked "outside" has a thinner seal lip than the other side so I'd say orient the seal lip with more surface area towards the crankshaft.
Also had a look at one out of a Yambits seal kit which also has a garter spring on both lips but I can't see any difference between them so if it was me I think I'd be installing it with the writing on the outside (i.e facing away from the crankshaft).

Thats just what il do cheers for the info, Hotshot

Just make sure that it’s in there nice and squarely. Also that the ‘insert’ has a good clean finish with no bad grooves or crud buildup on it
Did you split and rebuild the cases or just replace the seals? (both)...
Just use a proper clutch holder to tighten (or loosen) the clutch centre nut, don’t stick a screwdriver in the outer basket ‘fingers’! The alloy snaps so easy and without warning!...
