    Good morning all. I have a 1989 DTR125.
While riding the other day it started running rough then cut out.
Now when I turn on the ignition the servo doesn't do a clean cycle also when I kick the bike over I get no spark.
I have tried a second used CDI same result but second CDI may also be faulty.
I have measured the brown wire into the CDI and that is send 12v into the unit when ignition is on.
None of the other wires on the CDI send power out.
I would expect to see 12v leaving the CDI to the servo but I don't know which is the power line to the servo it is missing from the Haynes circuit diagrams. The servo has 5 wires to it. A four block connector and a separate single white and red wire.
    All help much appreciated.

@Corswolds89DTR It sounds like someone has put a later electrical system (and possibly engine) in your bike as to my knowledge all 1989 DTRs are either 3MB or 3NC electrical platform, both of which use the 3-wire servo.

It's a fairly common mod as the later engines are mechanically identical to the '89 onwards and some of the earlier bikes have had their wiring looms butchered over the years, 3-wire servos dying etc.

The electrical platform that ran the 5-wire servo came along in around 1999, I don't know very much about these having never owned one but if your Haynes manual is the type that covers all DTRs from 1988 to 2007 this is the model/wiring diagram you need to refer to. If your manual only covers the earlier models take a look here:

Many thanks for the response. The engine and frame numbers don't match so you could be right. I have had lots of challenges with the wiring since I bought the bike. I do have that Haynes manual but it doesn't show the wiring to the servo.

It won’t be a 1989 diagram you need. Look through the other years models till you find one that looks familiar…
