Dt125x Electric start issue
-
Hi all,
I’ve got a fault where if I hit the electric start sometime it won’t crank.
Battery is good , you can hear the click when you press the button but Nothing.
If I put it in gear and roll it a bit it then hit the button it cranks and starts ?
The starter motor had been replaced so would this mean it’s the clutch starter that needs replacing ?
Appreciate any advice anyone can share.
Thanks

It sounds to me like the relay. So the starter motor button isn't wired directly to the starter motor as the starter motor requires a lot of current.
Instead the wire is connected to the relay and the relay activates the starter.
So I'd look in that general vicinity, sounds like it's starting to go faulty, which isn't bad considering it's age and the high amperage that it is subjected to.
