@markus-w cheers mare just wanted to be 100% sure, just cleaned carb today n was full of varnish looking petrol cos bikes been sat ages, jets were blocked too really dirty tbh! Cleaned n refitted but just looped head hose to other head pipe n done same with carb pipes.. I'm in Scotland, cheers mate

Is it fine to bypass the coolant lines for the carb by linking head hose to head hose and carb hose to carb hose, it won't cause any issues will it?

@oldman cheers mate, ive tried uploading a pic but it wouldnt let me ill try again!, yeah but when it fires up with choke on should i leave a few mins before touching throttle?

Forgot to say it sat for 3 years after rebuild n i bought it, its got a new battery and will have a new plug on saturday hopefully.. if it starts with new plug should i leave it a few mins to run on choke before touching throttle?

Hey guys am Derek, got my DTR on tuesday 02plate, was fully rebuilt before i got it and just drove home and put in a shed, i took it home on tuesday n struggled to get it running, today i cleaned plug and was sparking every time out of bike but black and oiled up when removed, cleaned with a bit of sandpaper n put back in, took bike outside kicked with choke on and it started straight away went up in revs and i blipped throttle n it died, took plug out again cleaned n dried and it was only intermittently sparking this time and i couldnt get bike going again, any tips appreciated! Lost a little coolant as dropped bike trying do bump it and i topped up the rad with a little water, will that be okay, before that the coolant was really green and strong looking im hopin its okay because i only put a little water in, ordered a new plug when came in should be here saturday, any tips, do alot of dts die when throttle blipped just after starting?. Any tips appreciated.. thanks..

Im supposed to be picking up my blue 02plate DT 2weeks today and know a friend with spare blue anodized apico kickstart and gearlever for 08 YZ125, was wondering if anyone would know if theyd fit? Any help appreciated!.. Thanks.. (would keep original parts as bike is standard apart from dep expansion chamber and athena tailpipe..)

@NINJA Aye mate the plan is to get it home, pick up a new plug and oil, service, clean the carb out and charge battery n see if get it going, then plug chop to make sure alls good, it had a rebuild before being put away so im hoping for the best, one can only hope mate. Fingers crossed all good. The chinese bike wouldnt start with a bump last time i tried but ive new battery sitting in my kitchen cupboard for it as ive still to sort it out for selling it-unfortunately its garaged 3 towns away but DTs coming here to my flat, hopefully a few quid towards cbt,mot, insurance etc when sell the old chinese bike, not expecting to get much for it though!..

@Calum cheers mate, aye my old chinese bike (sorry for swearing lol) had been sitting 2 years when i bought it and i charged battery with my grandads 1950s charger n away it went, kinda hoping for same thing this time around like, that bike wouldnt run at all with flat battery but i remember a mate having a dt lc back in offroad days with no battery n it always went so wasnt too sure.. Defo be goin with Silkolene thats what i used on my bikes back in the day, local dealer stocks it so handy! Cheers guys its good to have this forum for advice..

Hey folks, im picking up my 02 plate DTR125 in 3 and a half weeks, it had a full engine rebuild, an old acquaintance had bought it put it in mums shed then he got jailed twice one after another so its been sitting for 2 n a half-3years-nice clean bike but im thinking battery will be dead and carb may need cleaned out before it starts, what i was really wonderin if it was possible for bike to kickstart with a flat battery, i think the older ones maybe did but not sure about an 02? I have a charger to try if not n if its goosed ill buy another, also any running in tips.?? Best 2 stroke oil to use??
