Clutch slip ?

Would having low engine oil due to oil leak cause the clutch to slip since it uses the oil for friction? And can clutch slip occur when your setting off meaning you need lots of revs to start moving

Oil is the last thing you want on clutch plates, else they slip. The DT just so happens to mix the gearbox oil into the clutch housing. That's fine so long as everything is torqued to spec. But as a general rule of thumb, no oil is not what you want on clutch plates.

Also add, you don't really want to be giving a slipping clutch revs, since this will just cause it to wear out.

@calum well if the last thing you want on there is oil why is the first thing you put on there oil I could of sworn they got covered in oil but I guess I was wrong

@declan It's a wet clutch system, so it needs to be lubed up prior to installing. But put oil on a dry clutch system and see how you get on.

There are only a handful of high powered wet clutch setups, the rest are all dry clutch.

@jens-eskildsen Lol, I sort of implied that in my first post. Kinda thought he might have got that. But yes, the point I was trying to make, low oil won't make it slip, as more powerful engines use dry clutches.
