Front brake caliper destroying rims

Are you guys familiar with this? When I first bought my dtx there was a long piece of paint missing from the left side of the front rim. Didn't have a clue what it could be from. The other day I dismantled the front tire and it was evident. If you do not first remove the caliper it will ruin your rim. Sadly I was too late, only made it worse.. Anyone experienced this?

Ripe for getting the wheels refurbished. Painted rims, painted hubs and stainless steel spokes.

Same thing happens on my DT with my wheels. Caliper has to come off first.

@calum not worth the money in my meaning. This must be one of the very few design faults of the Dt

@irongamer727 Pretty sure this is just standard with most wheels that run 280mm discs mate.

I've always removed the caliper from the forks to enable greater access to removing the wheel.

Agree with what Calum says, only takes a few minutes to remove if that.

I always remove caliper first, cable tie it to the rad mount or something then you have plenty of room
