Idle jet.
-
Recently my bike doesn’t want to idle, I stripped down the carb and completely cleaned it as well as the jets twice. The idle jet was blocked both times I cleaned it, after putting it back together it would run as normal until the idle jet blocked again and then would have to be constantly revving it to avoid killing the bike at the lights...
Any ideas why this is happening?
Cheers guys -
@ringdingding no filter for the fuel, and very hard to tell as the hole is tiny so can’t make it out

@ringdingding and haven’t a clue about the condition of the inside of tank

@jakeyboy Yes if it keeps getting blocked then something is pumping out some crap somewhere? Most likely you either have a blocked fuel filter or no filter at all? You can add an in-line fuel filter for as little as £1. It would be worth adding one of these as they are transparent and then you can see what's being pumped in and if it's good or bad???

Have you removed the fuel tap at all? Start with that and flush the tank with water, could be plenty of dirt sticking at the bottom. Just give it a good clean and when you put it back together make sure there isn't any water left at all, that could lead to serious problems. Also check your air-filter, if its slightly oily that is normal. Check the seal is still intact between your filter and airbox outlet, I imagine if there isn't it can let dust and dirt get through which will eventually cause issues.
And as the others said, an in-line fuel filter is almost a must-have. You can buy them in a bundle for next to nothing.
