JB Weld Crankcase Fix
-
Hello has anyone used JB Weld before and do you think it can repair this it’s on the crankcase where the oil drain screw is, I’ve order some off amazon and should be here Friday.
Was wondering why I paid £40 for a bottom end seemed really cheap shat out the gearbox though I’ve got the selector and the selector forks but not the actual gears etc but there was loads of metal shavings in there I guess it could have drained all its oil over time and they kept running it as I know these gearbox’s are supposed to be indestructible.

@jimmydc98 Was it not advertised as such?
That's bang out of order.I bought something similar years ago
Bought a working engine only to find the connecting rod shot through the bottom end ruining the cases.
I managed to get good money off the engine mind you, enough to get new cases.
I would just get it welded up properly if it were me.
Remember the cases will expand and contract with heat. So eventually it will crack again.

@jimmydc98 As @jimmydc98 says you would be far better off getting it TIG welded, as that would be a much stronger and more durable fix. I've used several JB weld epoxy's / adhesives and have never found them to be any good. They do not seem to stick or repair stuff as stated, so I would steer well clear of them. I have tried this stuff tho and can recommend it;
The TIG welding would be your best bet tho IMO.
