DTR stator plate
-
Hi does anyone know if i can swap flywheels. i have a 1991 DTR and a 2006 DTRE i was wondering if i could use the flywheel and stator from the 06 and put it on the 1991 engine as im having issues with the 06 engine. Im trying to make a nice clean DT out of both bikes. So im using the 2006 frame plastics ect and the 1991 engine but the connector's from the 2006 loom to engine are different and the loom on the 1991 has been chopped as it was used for field not road. Can anyone help ?.

Is 1 an inny and the other an outy?
The 06 will have the ally side casing and outy/back to front flywheel? While the 96 will have the plastic casing and ‘traditional’ flywheel?
Aren’t the cranks the same though? It would fit if he used the aluminium side casing shouldn’t it? The 06 flywheel, side casing and magneto on the 91 engine, I mean...@andyjack
91 & 06 have totally different electricals -
@Calum yes the 06 is an inny flywheel and the 91 an outty, old type flywheel. Im not sure about the crank i would of thought they would be the same. Im taking the flywheel off the 06 over weekend to fit a starter assembly so shall check the cranks. But if they are the same then flywheel, alley casing ect should go stright on shouldn’t it ???

If the cranks are different (& I trust Calum that they are) you could always try putting the 06 stator plate on the 91 engine but try using the 91 flywheel...
Got to be worth trying, especially if the magnets are similar on both... -
@andyjack The woodruff key is situated differently to accomodate the fact that the generator is reversed.
The DTR Crank part no: 3RM-11412-00
The DTRE Crank part no: 3MB-11412-00The other crank weber is the same (clutch side).
Clutch sie crank weber: 3MB-11422-00
Typically the windings and fly wheels are different too!
I am certainly not saying it won't work, just that there are differences.

@SpookDog well I don’t know what to say lads but i put the 2006 flywheel and stator + outside casing onto the 1991 and it kicked up first time but kept cutting out witch i found was a loose connection on a wire from stator. sorted that and its running fine. I was blasting it around field yesterday. So it looks like it works.

@andyjack sorry forgot to mention while i was messing with flywheels i noticed both engine codes at side of head flywheel side are the same perhaps thats why they fit. Only difference is the holes for the starter motor assembly are not cut out on the 91 crank case but i can live without electric start. Thanks for you advice tho lads. Appreciate it.

Looks like I have the same stator set up I got a dtre engine missing the stator so I fitted the spare I had from what I believe is an old tzr125 it's the 3 coil one with the matching flywheel then took the spragg clutch off the back of the X flywheel and it's a direct fit onto the "tzr" flywheel
