Only just getting round to doing this lol

When it comes to putting everything back together is it necessary to torque everything up or can we get away with out?

If we do need to torque can anyone provide torque measurements for each bolt. I’ve marked them up ABCD and would need for top of shock as well and that will be E lol.

        Cheers

Also at the bottom of the shock between two bushes turns out there is an olive not on the parts diagram and seals?
Do you know anything to help us get this sorted? I.e how to get seals and new olive in the middle, (bottom of shock)

Is this an aftermarket shock? Because diagram don’t show up these???![alt text]([image url](link url))

Got a picture of the shock? I don’t know anything about DTX shocks but the Dtr shock has a ‘ball’ swivel bit inside the bottom mount...

              Dtr settings are:
Rear suspension unit nuts: 3.3kgf m
Swing arm nut: 9.0 kgf m
Linkage nuts are all 5.8kgf m

              Hope this helps some...

                @SpookDog

Thanks for the torques settings mate

Here’s links to the SACHS shock photos and half of it pressed out. My mate says we might struggle to find similar bushes as it has rubber on the inside and splines on the end to keep it in place into the olive and need replacement seals.

Does seem looking online more that it looks very likely that the dt125re / X was supplied with this shock from factory. But when looking on parts diagrams it’s different and doesn’t mention any of these bits so that I could easily go buy them?

Have you got any ideas mate?
Have thought about sourcing a second hand dt125 re SACHS shock, but they could be worn too and would be unable to source the bits in future?
I can see online that dt125r shock is completely different in dimensions but will fit an RE frame? But even then on the parts diagram to them it doesn’t show that ball swivel you mentioned, just two bushes each side?

                  @DTGREENLANER

It all depends on how rich you are 🙂 an after market adjustable gas shock is £250~300. A Dtx shock will probably be hard to find. I’ve yet to see a Dtr shock with shot to F bushes. I don’t know why a late model dtx would wear so early. What mileage you got? I’m on 34000 with fine condition bushes...

I do have a spare Dtr rear shock I could lend you to check fitting, then a second hand Dtr shock is easy to find and not expensive , £30~50...
                  EDIT
RE 2008 model shock for £50 on fleabay , says Sachs on it I think. Put the number in fleabay search:

Haha I’m trying to save good for a house and already got a newish golf and a ninja 600 to look after as well so won’t be buying no gas shock unfortunately lol.

Ah thank you for the offer mate and for you looking yourself to find me a second hand one! Very kind of you man

I’ve had a look at that RE one on ebay , messaged him to make sure the bushes feel nice which he says they are so I’ve gone and bought it so I don’t have to faff about any more trying to solve this lol. Thanks again man!

I got an aftermarket speedo and speedo don’t always work (wish I kept original but was young and stupid lol) but I reckon it’s only on around 15k lol! I have taken it offroading a lot though in the past 😂 had the bike getting on 12 years now lol

Let’s hope this shocks all good then just gotta do some of the other bushes with my mate then it will be good to ride again
                    Cheers

Alright guys me again lol, replaced pretty much everything rear suspension wise including linkage bushes and seals using genuine Yamaha parts apart from wemoto slinky kit for arm but there is still is the slightest up and down play in the rear arm?

Is it normal for a tiny bit of up and down play or is it worth stripping down again and investigating?
Wondering if my mates torque wrench could be out of sync too?
Not up for years time being loads of play again lol

didn’t replace the dog bone bolts as they seemed all good, and bushes on shock were tight
                      Cheers

@DTGREENLANER no if it's all done up to spec there should be no play. That's usually one of the first things I check come MOT time, hoist the bike up and over onto the side stand and check the rear arm for play.

Yeah replaced that mate. Only thing I didn’t replace is the bolt going through there, number 17 on diagram, the two dog bone bolts and shock bushes as bought second hand shock as couldn’t get parts and they seemed all good.

Will check it over again and update on here.

Someone else on fb said they had similar problem
