4BL flywheel removal
-
Hi I need to split the cases on my 4bl engine as either my big end or side bearings have gone. How do you get of the nut and then pull off the flywheel - its different from my other bikes with the usual centre screw puller?
thanks a lot

@rubberfingers I think you need one of these:

Thanks any idea about how to get the nut off first? Is it am impact gun job?

You can get someone to sit on the bike and put the rear brake on and that can be used to undo the nut.
Or you can whip the cylinder off and place two pieces of wood on the crankcases and run a piece of metal through the small eye and use that to lock off the crankshaft.

@rubberfingers What @Calum said, or Lidl are selling cordless 20V impact guns from today which are as good as a branded one costing three times as much. Might be worth it if you've got to undo a few other bits to split the crankcases:

First gear, back brake on. I use a half inch socket with a slide bar, apply pressure to take up the ‘slack’ then a sharp tap with a rubber mallet usually does it…
