Following advice from HOTSHOT III I have decided not to purchase a cheap aftermarket coil for my non runner and get a genuine Yamaha one. I have looked on Fowlers but the part numbers do not match with mine. The part number of mine which I know to be the original coil is 3RW-10 43D but the one from Fowlers is 3RW-H2310=00 and they are out of stock. I am waiting for a reply from Fowlers about compatibility and delivery time. Has anyone else had this issue? I may be interested in a good used coil if anyone has one for sale.

The coil was used on a large variety of machines and can be ordered online:

Ultimately, it'll be a fairly generic part and I'm sure one off the DTR would work fine, the basic engine is the same, but there appear to be some subtleties, so best just stick to the part number described.

Thanks Calum I have just had confirmation from Fowlers agreeing with what you posted. I have another question if anyone can help regarding the 2t feed from the pump. I have bled the pump but I can't get the pipe off the reed valve housing to bleed it. I have a spare reed valve housing and on that one the pipe just pushes on to the fitting but on my bike the pipe appears to fit inside the fitting. The bike is a 2004/05 dt 125 re. I have tried pulling it but it won't budge.

@JOHNES It sounds like the annoying spring steel retaining clip that holds the final delivery pipe onto the reed block; depending on how it was fitted, sometimes the end of these (which you need to get a tiny flat-bladed screwdriver underneath to remove) can be hidden and difficult to get to. It does give the appearance of the pipe fitting inside the reed block.

The pipe also sticks to the stub on the reed block over time so once you've got the clip off, try pushing it a little further on first to dislodge it. A clear oil delivery pipe kit from Yambits makes the bleed process a lot easier and gives at-a-glance peace of mind when riding, also comes with new clips:

          https://yambits.co.uk/dt125r-oil-line-kit-clear-p-26778.html

Not sure why they don't list this for the DTRe, this was in the DT125R section but should fit.

Thanks HOTSHOT III I will fit the clear tube kit as you suggested. When I looked on yambits for the pipe kit I looked to see if they had coils as well and they had two. One was £18.00 and the other was a Japanese one made by Mitsubishi for £40. Do you know if the Mitsubishi one is as good as the OEM one from Fowlers.

I must admit, I don't bother explicitly bleeding the pump anymore, since it's an open system anyway it should self bleed. I.e. it's not a sealed system.

If the pump comes off, I usual stick some two stroke into the fuel for belt and braces.

But I have always ran clear oil lines as it's better to be safe than sorry.

Hi Calum, it is a good job I did bleed it because after being stood for years the oil had started to clot in the pipe. The oil in the tank looked ok but I bled it until the new oil came through. I am going run clear oil lines as well. I still need to bleed from the pump to the reed valve housing. Hopefully I can get the pipe off and get that done thanks to the help from HOTSHOT III

@JOHNES No worries bud 👍 I'd still stick with an OEM coil if you can TBH, it's just one thing you can definitively rule out during the fault-finding process of elimination.
