@smudge1995 said in is a standard dt tail pipe restricted:
@scotty I've just changed my exhaust on my dtr to a dep back pipe as I was told the standard pipes have washers welded into them
Did you notice any difference ? Smudge

@scotty I would be surprised if there was not some sort of restriction in the stock pipe. Some wadding at the very least? Hence why performance pipes work as they remove any restriction to the air flow. Plus normally aspirated engine's require some back pressure too keep the system balanced. The front pipe definitely has some wadding and restriction in there, so it would make sense that the tail pipe had some as well.

Stock pipe has washers welded inside on earlier models, the newer ones have a cat which is very restrictive. I've never heard of any restrictions in the rear pipe, they do however require repacking periodically so fitting a new one would make a difference

As a general rule: 2 strokes are restricked in the header/downpipe, and 4 strokes in the silencer/tail pipe.
