Dt170 vs ktm exc 125

to be honest there all 125's chuck a can of beans down your throat and fart to the finish
if your after speed and acceleration get a bigger bike I personally am not a fan of picking a bike based on numbers especially when there only gonna be like 2 mph difference it's not about what the bike can do its what you can do

Sooooooooooooooooooooo let's broaden the spectrum a little bit.....................................
A KTM EXC Vs an Aprilia MX 125, which one is quicker ???
And we'll level the playing field with the EXC converted to SuMo trim, both with the same gearing, which one will win ???
@ninja Yeah it's a tad unfair. Again, the Aprilia is a production road bike. The EXC is a competition bike.
Although the Aprilia does use the Competition Rotax 122 engine. It is a Go Kart engine. And it is brilliant, just not that brilliant in stock trim. 26 ponies derestricted I believe.

@ninja There are other factors that determine this for me.
Mint cojdition MX 1800 pounds. Mint condition exc....considerably more.
For the extra dough you could have a much more unique, tractable bike if you went with the Aprilia.
Numbers aren't everything, but if you play top trumps I think the aprilia has more going for tit. Availability of parts, the tuning potential. The room for improvement, the list goes on.
If I wasn't interested in tuning, and had the money, I would get an exc. But I am and I don't so the aprilia gets my vote.

@calum OK sound reasoning, but forget all that and just imagine a straight drag race over a 1/4 mile. Which bike would take the honours ???
@ninja Surely the Aprilia has better top end. A drag race hardly seems fair.
To be fair, way back when, I was out with my brother.
I was on my DT, my brother was on his RS.
We came across a KTM and he absolutely decimated it. But there's nothing to say that the KTM wasn't about to give up the ghost.

@calum The 1/4 mile 'Drag race' is just to give it a set start and finish point, aka from one set of lights to another street race.
-
@ninja Shit video that. Baron can't ride for shit and just cries the whole time. I did see that a long time ago.

@terry-tz You can even get Pneumatic valves for those engines.
So it's not electronically controlled. A spring adjusts its opening RPM. And it just pops open lol
-
@calum I would prefer the controller to be honest but I when my blade broke I pinned mine it lasted a few days before I was fed up with it like that and released it closed again I would rather be stuck to 80mph than put up with a gutless bike
-
Well this is an interesting video;

Well this is an interesting video;
@ninja the question is where the Dt is?

@ninja the question is where the Dt is?
Husqvarna Husaberg TM 125 they will a piss all over a DTR, The fastest 125 trail bike I have come across by far is the Honda CRM that makes a DTR seem like a 50 lol with or without a 170 kit or a WR200 engine the CRM will piss all over a DTR200 or WR200 once derestricted.

@calum I sold it to a shop in Lancashire called Bikeonic for 2100 fook knows how much they want for it though.
