Pv adjustment help

I have my Haynes book but that’s showing the pv is visible I’ve adjusted it so looking through the ex port I can’t see the pv when open is this correct?

Well, it's not that you can't see it, but the valve will be completely flush with the exhaust port bud.

@calum I’ve done that and it’s currently warming up but the hole that is used to line it up is now no where near what is should be, so the “u”shape is more behind the “o”shape, some sort of restriction maybe?

@declan I really don't know bud. That's just how I set mine up. Again, it all really depends on how you look at the alignment. The other common one is where people get the cables the wrong way around.

@calum seems to run a little better and revs up to atleast 8 And stays there I’ll test it out on my next ride excited now lol

@Calum When it was lined up with the hole it was sticking out a fair bit in the exhaust port roughly half inch

@declan Nah, it should be flush with the port bud.

@declan Cool, so with that being the case, if it's still not reving past 8K, you now at least now it's not the PV. To test that properly. Let the PV line with the port, then disconnect the servo. It should red line unless there is another underlying issue.

Hi All........
Remember when l first joined the forum and said there would be some stupid questions.
As you all know l have been making good my DT 125 and today l actually was able to take her for a spin.
Now l have no doubt that the PV is doing something but when it come in it feels like you are clutching it?
It is wild, at 6000rpm all hell breaks loose, but it just feels like it is not operating properly.
I hope l explain it properly, it’s not a rush of power more like your dipping the clutch to create more RPM’s?
Any ideas, is it too a set up issue?
Sounds stupid but how should it feel?

@Spanners Are you sure your clutch isn't just slipping?

@spanners Sounds like either the chain, or the clutch is slipping.

I had a mate with a 2001 DTR said the same thing to me, didn't realise the chain was spinning on the front cog believe it or not. I took it for one spin up the road and was like F me mate that is deadly. If it slips and coils up Bye Bye engine as the chain smashes the crank case together.

If you've put Castrol Magnetec oil in the gearbox, the clutch will slip.

The clutch plates changed when l had the water coming in the gearbox from the water pump seal, could be a bedding in issue?
Both sprockets and chain brand new, changed as a full kit.
Oil in gearbox is Rock oil lite, bought from Wemoto, someone suggested on a forum and definitely not magnatec!

I can’t be fully confident, but are brand new clutch plates.
Could it be a bedding in issue?

@spanners Did you soak the clutch plates in oil 24 hours prior to installing?

@spanners are you sure your pv is set up mine was like a rev limiter on and off power around 6.5k

We cover the clutch plates in the gearbox oil before installing them.
It was in accordance with the Haynes manual.
Should they have been soaked 24 hours?
If so, what are the implications of not doing this?
Have they not been soaking in the gearbox oil since installation?
How do l stop the clutch slipping from now or when it wears will it natural gather more grip when the high spots wear?
If not I’ve got a dangerous reving rocket! Ho-ho!
