@crispy Bridging the connectors with a paper clip isn't the way to solve the problem.

Fix the side stand/clutch switch rather than bridging. 9/10 when I see this problem it's the side stand switch and bypassing it doesn't work as it's done incorrectly.

@calum . I had been asking my son to organise getting the bike into a shop as I was getting nowhere (my head is melted with work so I just hadn't got the patience) and finally he got a breakdown recovery van organised today. So when I was bringing the bike down the side of the house I thought I'll just check again for fun. So it wouldn't start on the button. Turning over quickly so battery strength isn't an issue. But I tried bump starting it and it came to life straight away. Drove up the road and back as far as 4th gear and ran fine. Wouldn't tick over or restart on the button but the motor was turning over as expected.
Bike is gone to Cotters bike shop in Dublin but I thought the bike wouldn't turn over if it was clutch/side stand type of issue.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? Bike spins over on Electric Start and won't start, but will start on a bump?

@declan no kick on her so can't measure that way. But with the plug out holding my finger over the hole it certainly spits my finger off with force when I use the starter. Also with the bike in gear it certainly doesn't spin over easily when I physically push it. So don't think compression is the issue.

@crispy yeah I know about the starter I was just referring to motocross bikes, if it spits your finger off it's probably good
