@mhbikesnbits I’m In Talks with a guy in Australia who owns a 200r give me some really nice info on it and it’s general handling and stuff.
He also has a load of parts and I’ve got all the important parts for the engine I need, the loom, cdi , servo all the electronics, the split pipe for the radiator and saving me a load of parts for the future spares ect I might need.
Really big step forward to completion as it could have been months before I found these bits for sale
@mhbikesnbits Yeah I would love to shave off as much weight as possible on my DTR.
Another good one is to grab a lithium battery. That's a tremendous amount of weight saved!

Firstly this is an amazing build and coming together well; I'm only sorry I didn't pay attention from the beginning as I now have lots of catching up to do!!
Very interesting to look at pics of the combustion chamber; the squish band is huge and has to occupy around 75% of combustion chamber area as an estimate. Just had a read of the cylinder head chapter of A. Graham Bell's two-stroke tuning book and this puts the combustion chamber design in racing kart engine territory. Apparently kart heads are like this because they're heavily loaded pulling out of slow corners and this boosts torque and reduces the possibility of detonation but does sacrifice some top-end power (on the other hand road race engines can run very thin squish bands to be more efficient at high rpm).
This could mean (subject to other critical engine dimensions) the DT200R 3ET develops a very linear power delivery similar to KDX200s and stuff like that, just what you need for enduro/greenlaning. Thanks for posting up the pics, the DT200R is so rare in the UK I've never had the chance to look at one before!

@HOTSHOT-III thanks for kind words about the build, I have read before the 200r engine has plenty of low down torque, pretty popular for the green leaning and enduro too wonder what Yamahas idea was for the design especially for it only been targeted towards certain country’s

Shiny! What you gonna rust proof it with? Not sure if they were painted or plated from new?...Should of got him to send another ally swingarm while he was at it! Gold dust here...

@biohazard13 I haven’t seen one in picture before cleaned up tbh was thinking Of spraying it silver ro match the other bits of silver , if I’m honest got the pick of a lot of parts off the guy as I’ve gotten quite friendly with him so I’m going accumulate a lot of spares

Concentrated on cleaning the casted finish off on the swing arm today the plan is to polish the smoother bit of the arm and keep the casted bit as norm to have less maintenance on the shine

I keep doing bits and researching bit and pieces but more and more work mounts ups hard to find the time sometimes , would like to get the swing arm done soon need the bearings for the suspension leg ordering and upgrade the rear shock for a YSS shock as a nice upgrade as the suspension really lacks front and back on the dts (I have nice trick up my sleeve for the front suspension), should have a nice base for the bike then and I can sit on a stand before it’s too heavy for lift off the table
the Latest work I’ve done is take the tank back to bare metal quite lucky with my tank seems a real good one like not dented up and clean inside

£500 for get my hubs drilled into brand spanking gold alloy 21 inch and 18 Inch rims with stainless spikes built and balanced not too shabby I don’t think

As part of the build I wanted to upgrade the spongy outdated suspension the dt125r has, one option I Did ponder was swapping the shock spring from the XT600 onto the DT shock but I decided the best upgrade in my opinion would be the YSS Shock, really looking forward to getting this on now I’ve seen it looks real sexy and got some nice adjustment options on it.
Gotta get this swing arm done!

@mhbikesnbits Very smart, I got a YSS on my RS and I'm happy with it. But I probably ought to consider an upgrade on the DTRE. It's always been good enough for my uses however, plus I have larger dog bones fitted so height wise it's spot on for me.

@Calum you helped sway my decision tbh seen a few recommendations from you for the YSS on some old posts on here
