The pictures don't do justice to the level of crust and oxidation,so after stripping the top end I find that the cylinder lining is in pretty much perfect condition and has a nice 3mb head, after pulling the powervalve I notice that it looks like the valve has never been removed before no marks or scratches on it I cleaned the cylinder and reassembled the top end for now,

Next I needed to address my clutch (Or lack of) the clutch arm moved freely not engaging the pressure plate so I set to removing the clutch cover pretty simple right? Well nope I snapped two bolts in the process again it looks like the clutch cover has never been removed looks like the original gasket from Yamaha and very clean inside no signs or wear on any nuts or bolts in there I do have to say though the oil is disgusting it's lost all of it's lubricity and smells like cat urine, after the cover was removed I managed to get one of the snapped bolts out I can't think why it snapped it looks pristine)

I've seen worse.
Looks like you're going to need some heat on this.

@declan in crust we trust
Also just a thought if that Y-1 3mb head is original to the engine and it never looks like the cases have been split then you could’ve just found a motor that someone ripped out 30 year ago and then got abandoned. Good shape on the inside -

@NINJA technically 130 but I had to pay delivery from isle of wight so ended up 170 the only reason I got it was I had a dtx stator and case lying around and I had a good feeling that the engine was good underneath the crust so far I was right
