    Clutch slipping when cold

      Hi guys, so ive recently replaced my top end on my 2007 DTRE with a 3MB00P cylinder and put new clutch plates on whilst engine was out however my clutch slips when the engine is cold, ive read it could be the oil being to thick, i used putolene 75w light gear oil, any help appreciated

        If it’s only when cold and fine when warmed up, you answered it yourself...
        I use synthetic gear oil, not motor oil (4/). Don’t have any problems yet, and synthetic is leak prone cause it’s thinner...

          @SpookDog thanks, its deffo worth changing oil before i rip it apart again, what oil do you use??

            I have had issues running gear oil on my DT. I just run castrol semi-synthetic 5w-30 and never had any issues.

            Don't run things like Castrol Magnetec as that will cause the clutch to slip.

              Also i read 1 of your old post about running the P cylinder, you said it didnt run well on yours, what was the reason why??

                The raised exhaust port doesn't favour the DTR Gearing or ignition system.

                It pushes the power to the higher RPMs whilst dropping mid-range performance. On the RE, the ignition is retarded higher up the RPMs so you never truly make use of the benefits.

                When on the DT I used it for town riding etc, I never needed more top end.

                Even then, it doesn't come close to my RS.

                    My Dtr is nothing special, just a new top end and working power valve, but I managed to spin the back tyre on the rim and bugger my inner tube because I had low psi and no rim lock fitted. I never went above 4000 rpm because I’m running it in. The low usable torque is not what I expected!!

                    I run Motorex 10w 30 synthetic

                      @SpookDog oh dont get me wrong i love the DT, always wanted 1 and now ive got 1 will never get rid, ive had a mito, nsr, RD and RG125's, like you said hourses for courses, i prefer supermoto style any day and theres just somthing about trying to get as much out of these little 2 strokes i love
