Leaking from front sprocket
-
I recently changed my front sprocket but now it seem to have a slight oil leak maybe a few drops a day. I don’t think I’m missing anything so I’m guessing it’s just the seal that needs replacing. Im not master mechanic but I’m fairly handy is it a difficult job or anything to try first?
Thanks -
@dtlee very simple job. If you can remove the front sprocket then you can replace the seal.
The seal itself uses an insert bush on the output shaft. This should slid out giving you good access to the seal.
Just remove the sprocket, remove the bush then pull the seal out, being careful not to score the seal walls.
Then reinstall the new seal. Use the old seal as a driver to tap the new seal in with minimal risk of damaging the new seal. The seal should cost £3 from simply bearings.
