What are peoples thoughts on a 2001 dtr, I've found quite a clean example with good mot history. Are they badly restricted and how easy are they to unrestrict is it just replacing the exhaust? thanks.

@StuKing94 these are some of worst with regards to restrictions.

If you buy a Zeeltronic of Ignitech then it will be full power. Just need to replace the exhaust. That looks clean, be a shame to mess about with it though.

@Calum Cheers, if I leave it as it is and just replace the exhaust what sort of speed do you think it will do?

@Calum I was also looking at this one, 1990 import from france, electric and kick start. what do you think of this one. Sorry for all the questions I'm still learning about all of this.

@StuKing94 I don't know too much about the later DTR electrics so IMO that 1990 with electric start would be a better bet (electric start was a factory extra at the time and quite expensive).

Plus I think the '88 to about '98 were full power models from new in France.

@StuKing94 Obviously aftermarket graphics kit, looks smart.

As I say, there seems to be an influx of european imports that I'm less familiar with. But they're probably better spec than UK ones.

I know early UK Models omitted the powervalve servo due to people killing themselves on the RD's. I am not aware of the european models doing the same.

@StuKing94 This black 2001 model has got an older engine fitted, pre 1996. These later models also have a restriction in the Speedo in the form of a magnetic switch which closes the powervalve back up at about 65 mph. It's easily removed though.

@StuKing94 Stay away from it as not a 2001 and
not even any 2001 parts on it. Should be like this genuine 2001.

@theportingmaster I mean, it's 20 years old so I wouldn't be too worried if it's not concourse. Espcially if you want to use the bike daily etc.
