    @Calum

    This is an early bike with 3 coil stator. I thought that the aftermarket ignitions were only really affective on the later models with restricted CDI’s? Just from what I’ve read?…
    Would it make sense if you’re not gonna port & tune?…

    @SpookDog I am already ported and tuned,it's in the project topic,but the unrestricted old 3NC that was on the bike worked wonderfully with the tune for 1100km's of the 1300km's totally.

    I need my tools and a pile of junk.....

      @SpookDog The last DTRE/X CDIs are very simple to derestrict, earth green black wire.

      When I originally did this, I couldn't tell you the difference. My Zeel then went faulty and I sent it back to Borut. I went back to stock CDI without the Green/Black wire earthed and the bike was gutless! I earthed the Green/Black wire and the bike came alive.

      I fitted my new Zeel and it was like a completely new machine.

      Sometimes, I find it hard to tell the difference. Going back to stock for some time then going on to a tuned system really highlighted the difference it maked to my bike.

        @MadGyver

        Sorry, it’s been a while since I read your thread from the start. My bad memory is bought and paid for with decades of self abuse 🃏
        Either way, make sure it’s the fault before splashing out!…

        @Calum

        I get that, it sometimes takes a change to realise what you’ve got. Or an improvement to realise how bad it was before! Well, it does with me 🙂 I get this strange phenomenon where I get days where doing 50 mph feels like I’m doing a ton! Other days, not so much. Them’s the licks…

            @MadGyver I ran a my DTRE CDI on a TZR Belgarda bottom end. I may have swapped over the stator plate. I'd have to go through my build thread to confirm...

                @SpookDog The one is 1991,the other doesn't say.Connectors are the same on both.They have 10 wire total,mine has 11.

                @Calum you are not on 3 coils stator?

                  No I am not on 3 coils stator. I run the DTRE stator plate with a Zeeltronic.

                  The belgarda engines invert the flywheels, like the DTREs and therefore I was able to use the flywheel, stator off of my DTRE on the TZR lump.

                    @MadGyver

                    Mine has 10 wires actually coming out of the CDI unit. If you count the ends of the wires there’s 11 because the black one loops back and up for some reason…

                    alt text

                    I think someone told us recently that Tzr CDI’s have a different range or something, if you’re ported and tuned it would be ideal, no?..

                    PS the Tzr CDI might have an extra wire for the rev counter…

                        The 4DL cdi came,connected,resolved the neutral issue with the one less cable.
