Is this normal. I've just noticed my barrel is 3mb00 but my head is 3BN. I heard the 3BN is the restricted head... Which one should I be looking for to get more power from the engine? Thanks again - so many questions from me recently!!!! But I've been stuck in the garage with the bike for the last few days.

Mine has a 3mb barrel with 3bn head it's a 2000 model. The 3mb head is the unrestricted one.

@kennymurphy97 ah, OK. Thanks. At least its not a mismatch.

Anyone know if you can send this head away to be derestricted (I guess they change the squish band) or how much I'd be looking to pay for a 3mb head...

@Calum always recommends a place.. Can't think of the name now but it's pretty cheap.

Yeah that's normal, mine had a 3mB00P barrel and 3BN head, got a 3MB head off eBay and it made some difference, best bet would be to just do what I did, payed 50 for a good condition head, took a bit of searching f to get a good one though, a lot of them look like they've been frisbee'd off a cliff

@Burridge The state of most them on eBay is an insult to peoples intelligence!

3MB heads were later models, found on the DTRE/X and Gilera SC

The Belgarda P' heads are very similar to the 3MB or vise versa'

    Keep it real

Although I have a P stamped head. Mick Abbey charged £30 to alter the squish band. But I sent a barrel with this as well.

Best give him a ring really. Doubt he really checks his Facebook. He is a nice enough bloke you can ask him.

When I spoke to him he quoted 170 for barrel ported and head squishband and powervalve adjustments.

In order for him.to.do his work he needs the piston you are going to use, barrel and of course the head.
