its got bigger injectors but the inlet is standard otherwise -
@CYBER-NINJA Better clutch feel, easier to use and the better ones are self adjusting. No more fettling the clutch perch.
If you have ever driven a Japanese car then you will understand. Most Jap cars from the 60's up come standard with hydraulic clutch. It's only now that the VW crew catching up.
just catching up.. my 96 mk3 golf has one
dam car thread i'm going to need to upload photos of my turbo mk3 now
-
@gareth_iowc Sorry, but those MK3 Golfs are absolutely WANK!
The GTi that is. Absolutely shocking car.

Pretty sure they went back to cable clutch on the mk4.
Regardless the Datsun 240z was OHC Timing Chain engine with hydraulic clutch way back in the sixties.

Think we pretty much stole someone's thread with our cars, I didn't get on with the mk3 golf Either, my vr6 spat it's head gasket on the left rear corner apparently it's a common fault, and my gti was slow as shit all noise and no go, 1 car I do wish I'd kept was a mk3 astra gsi the phase 2 I put a calibra turbo engine in I have a video somewhere on the dyno
-
@andrewj1680 Yeah I know a lad who did that near me, although it was with the mk1. Something around 370 bhp, which I thought was rather tame, but he said the fact the car weighed next to nothing meant it went like shit off a shovel

Those c20xe are very similar the redtop engine the na version and they are pretty bullet proof my cavalier Sri I drove it like I stole it daily and never missed a beat never drank oil or water just used to destroy tyres
-
@andrewj1680 My brother had 2.0 Cavalier Nova conversion. Whilst it was a good engine, it was only the 2.0 8V and he said it wasn't as fast as his 1.4 Carb. Also it had major lift off oversteer issues lol
-
Lol would of thought even a 2.0 8v would of gone well in the nova, my cav was the 16v redtop think I give about £500 for it Def a good buy back in the day. Would hate to think what a 150bhp car would feel like now. Even my diesel mondeo St is running more than that and a return of 47.7 mpg
-
@andrewj1680 Oh yeah how true that is I don't know.
But it was probably because it was more revy etc.
An Oldie but a Goodie
-
Mk4 was hydraulic as well
My mk3 is my baby and she never lets me down. Got a ajq 20vt under the hood running 1.7 bar of boost takes lots of shit and make me smile and others surprised.
Used to have a mk2 I rebuilt but I scrapped that to try And win a girl back that didn't work doh lol

@Bentley The GT'S and Glanzas were only ever sold in Japan. They are all imports.
They are quality cars, but old. With age comes replacement, I haven't driven mine in two years. Only done 500 miles in it and I have spent silly amount of time and money replacing every single nut and bolt.
